Sorry, I did mean the PM1 (Group 31M). I think I'll be going that route because it adds another couple hundred cca's (1150) and it has the extra terminals for my winch, lights, and battery tender. The warranty issue is also important to me, but from doing research here and on other forums, Sears will do EVERYTHING in their power not to honor their warranties. I guess I'll cross that bridge if I get there.

I'm sure you'll be find, if the battery last 3 years, most any factory defects would have appeared in that time frame.;)

You may want to check with EnerSys Home as to see if there is a limit on charge cycles on the deep cycle type battery.

Thanks for the link! That is a very good site. I'm headed to Sears now, I'll post up what I got and the install hopefully this weekend. :bounce:

That does look nice!

It should, as Group 27 was the original stock size.
Don't have any pics but the Group 31 Deka AGM fits the 62, snug as a bug, with some flattening of the stock battery tray edges on two sides and a little spacer on top of the batt.

Costco has great deals on battery. The kirkland batteries are made by the same manufacturer as die hard, interstate, duralast, and many other "name brands". Recently they carry interstate batteries which are really good. And they're return policy is second to none. You take the battery in and tell them its bad.... absolutely no questions asked you get a new one. I have done this several times. :)

Sears suck IMHO

Costco=, but there batteries=:bang: . I went thru two last year. The first one died in a couple of weeks, and the second one sprung a leak after a weekend offroad camping trip. Thats why I went with a Sears/Odyssey. I just finally got tied of wet cells. 100 year old technology, had to move on.

Also, the Kirkland battery is made by Johnson and the Sears Platinum is made by EnerSys. ;)

FYI from quick google search: "Johnson Controls makes Diehard (Sears), Duralast (AutoZone), Interstate, Kirkland (Costco), Motorcraft (Ford), and some EverStarts."

Hmm I thought they were all made by Johnson... I guess the platinum is the exception. I see costco batteries normally last 3+ years, and my whole family uses them. With a free replacement warranty, I just take them in before warranty is up, so its no problem.

For reference, an optima red top lasted bout 8 months in my landcruiser.

But like I said, Costco now carried interstate batteries, and they are very good batteries as well.

Well I have not seen the Interstate branded battery at my local Costco, only the Kirkland brand. I currently have 3 Kirkland batteries in 3 separate cars, and they are all excellent. And as was noted before, if it does not work, simply return it.

That's all my Costco carries now... hmm

I believe that Johnson makes all the Die Hards except the Platinum. That is made by Odyssey, which many believe the best batteries available.

I have the P2 Group 65 for my 2nd battery thats on the driver side.

Okay, I finally finished my project. I ended up buying a Diehard Platinum Group 31M. I had a hard time believing that the beast would fit, but it did! It's very tight on all sides as you will see in the pics. The old Everstart courtesty of Walmart with its awesome 600 cca doesn't even come close to spinning the motor as fast as 1150 cca!

As far as the install, It's about as close to plug and play as you can get. I shaved off the fins on the bottom of the battery on one side, but really didn't have to do it as it fit in there with about a 1/4" to spare. I did have to use a longer battery tiedown on the backside of the battery. Other than that, it dropped right in.

The battery is TALL! I'm pretty sure you only have about 1/2" to the bottm of the hood. I did use Fourrunner's battery cables, and I am also running a new light harness, winch, aux. lights, and a battery tender. Anyways, here's the pics! Feel free to fire away with any criticisms and questions!;)

Nice choice! I intended to go snap some pics as promised but went to the football game this afternoon and forgot all about it. Thanks for doing my work:beer:

If you post enough times, maybe you'll be right? NOT!

The whole post was about the Platinum, and not the standard junk wet cell diehard.

Your disinformation is helping no one. The Sears DH Platinum is made by EnerSys, and is a far better battery than any wet cell. That includes every battery Johnson makes.

So next time you post wrong information as if it were fact, Please check your facts first.

If more folks did, the internet would be a much better place.

That thing looks Juicy! If I ever get a second battery, I'll go for that one.

Right after I install a HF 12k wench.:D

Looks good...cables worked out then?

Yes, the cables worked out great! The worst part was getting the bolt off on the motor mount for the ground cable. That thing was ON there! Your cables sure make the stockers look weenie! lol
