I've just heard about these units, and while expensive the reviews are great on them. I noticed they have a mini model, does anyone here have one and used it for camping?

The only downside to these I could see for camping would be the coal disposal in fire season.

I have never used one for camping but have seen them used at tailgating parties. I have the XL BGE and love it. I think the only drawback to the smaller eggs are the cooking surfaces are minimal when comparing to, lets say, a Coleman.

I do have the mini egg and yes I do take it camping. The grill doesn't hold very much. 2 New York steaks will max out the grill space. But much much much better than anything else that size.

As far as coal disposal, when I'm done I open up all the air vents, clean the grill, and let the charcoal burn to ashes and dump in fire pit next day.

imho, the weight of the thing would rule it out for camping for me...

weber smokey joe or the weber propane grill suite my camping needs very well.
