Yes, Rick, due to its size, its hard to get a full visual of Solitario from the ground (or in pics). Here we were standing on one of the concentric rings with another one right behind us.
Nolen took some drone footage (legal in State Park) and that might show it more prominently from a bird's eye. From my perspective, the NP is great for distinctive landmarks and geological stuff that just doesn't exist elsewhere and the State Park (while having stunning scenery in its own right) is a more of a wheeler's paradise. We really only scratched the surface there and you could spend days-on-end in the state park without ever seeing pavement (the only entrance to the park and to the park HQ at Sauceda is @20 miles of dirt and loose gravel).
Leaving the State Park and heading up to Marfa, we had a nice high-speed, mini Baja for about 40 miles of uninterrupted bliss. At one point Nolen ramped a cattle guard going about 40.
