Big Bear .... New dates take a look..... May after Moab

Big Bear is about an hour from our house.. depending on where you go around the lake..

If anyone wants to meet here and start that way I will offer our house as a gathering spot or we can all meet somewhere around the lake...????

Anyone been there before or want to go prerun some trails and see what we could do with everyone ?????.. It might be a good idea so that everyone can go and not have a problem getting through without lockers and sliders, or worry of tearing something up. and then some more challenging trails for the others in the group who are ok with the possiblilty of body dammage. ?????

Also how about a base point with a barbque and a place for the little kids to play.. maybe in Holcomb campground???

any other ideas or thoughts.???.. just throwing out some ideas.......

I might be up for a Big Bear trip on that weekend. Checking out the website, I thought the self-guided tour of Holcomb Valley sounded kind of interesting.

Info on Holcomb Valley is in the last paragragh.

I missed the first meet/run last weekend - good excuse though. :D

I would love to go. But...

Honestly, I would like an optional trail to avoid damage.
My plan before the summer ends is to have Bluto lifted and sliderfied with intact panels to boot. Then tackle some rocks.

Having two trail groups, one stock friendly and one whatever, would be fun for everybody that attends.

Just a suggestion.

the 23rd is the only option for the princess and I. I would love to go. Like I have said before I don't have to drive the trail. i would be just as happy riding shotgun and taking pics/video for the whole group. I can learn by watching. My wife would probably be a nervous wreck at big bear without sliders. cooking out and wheelin's sounds like a great day to me. maybe there will even be some snow up there still.

Big Bear is a great place! I look forward to going - have to check my schedule.

Most of the Big Bear area is great for stock trucks. Most areas are even doable in 2 wheel drive. I wouldn't worry about damage; you'd have to make some fairly serious mistakes on the hardest trails to hurt anything.

I recommend a drive up to the Butler Peak Lookout for an early lunch. A fairlly easy trail out of Fawnskin. A little short hike, and some of the best views in the area!

It is short enough that those seeking more hard core trails would still have plenty of time left to explore. Not too far from there is an entry to the Holcomb Creek Trail (3N93); a moderate trail heading west off the main road (3N14). It winds through trees, crosses the creek a couple of times and transitions to rock for the last 1-2 miles. I made it in a bone stock Cherokee without damage (some pucker though:eek: ).

Regardless, I'm open for whatever!:bounce:

Out of town that weekend also, Have lots of fun!

Camporee with the Scout troop that weekend. I'm not available.

since there seems to be alot of conflict on the date anyone have another weekend in mind???

I have to pass on any trips until i get my rear bumper done!

:frown:

How about the 30th? Still a Sunday for Smitty and hopefully no party/out of town/out of the country for all the others. Sounds like Big Bear would be a good destination for all.

Except Boston Mangler. How is the rear bumper coming? Are the bushings going to work?

Rear bumper is work in progress, spindle for the carrier should be here today or tomorrow. Bushings are going to work out great! I got the basic design mocked out in cardboard and the plasma cutter will be working a lot this weekend for sure! :D I will post pics as they come

Sounds like it is going to turn out real nice. Good timing for me to follow and decide if I should build my own or just buy one. :D

If it comes out as nice as i am thinking its going to, we might make a few of them to sell as well, more details soon!

Hmmmmmm...... The plot thickens.

How does the 7th of May work for everyone? I will be in Moab for a week and then I have family suff to do the rest of this month. Big Bear in May just sounds nice, :).

I am pretty sure that would work for me.

I will be on my way back from Moab on the 7th. :D
