I love the ride of the michelins but am wanting to change to a more agressive tire. How much rougher riding are the bfg at2 tires?

Ive had the bfg at tire on a tahoe and i liked them but they slung gravel. I wonder if the 275 70 16 size bfg at slings gravel?

It's not the size of the tire that causes the tire to throw gravel, but the tread pattern. You might notice the bfg making slight more road noise and the ride wouldn't be much different if the psi is right assuming you're stock.

The ride isn't much different. I went from the michelins to a 275/70/18 BFG KO2 and am happy with them. I've had the BFG before though and I really like the tire all around. Low road noise for an aggressive tire and awesome in the snow and other weather conditions.

Another tire to look at is the Cooper Discoverer AT3s. One of the best and most reviewed ATs on the market next to the BFGs. But more affordable as well.

I was really surprised at the low road noise of the KO2s for an AT tire.

The new KO2s are really quiet, very close to the mich ltx, and the grip is better on wet road. I tried to provoke aqua planing, but they were just super steady.

I got the Discoverer RTX tires a few months ago, I've been happy with them. Minimal road noise (quieter than wind noise at highway speeds), great on the road, in heavy rain, and in soft sand (all I've tested so far). I got 285/75-16 for $135 each, and there was a $100-off-4-tires promotion at the time. I think they're only available at Tire Kingdom though.

I recently got the brand new Falken AT3W -- want to say they're as quiet as the stock Michelins that came on the Hundy, but pretty darn aggressive. Significantly smoother rolling than the Duratracs we had. Inlaws driveway is a gravel and we go on it daily, so far no throwing rocks.
Wife says she's had multiple men roll down their windows at traffic lights and ask how she likes her tires. Falkens were the cheapest (by at least $20/ea) aggressive AT tire from all the major brands at my local tire shop.

I just replaced my Michelin's with KO2's and I hear very little if any difference! Love the ko's, I would also recommend Cooper ST Maxx, had them on a 4runner and they were quiet, aggressive tough tire as well.

I like my KO2's. They ride well for an AT tire. I doubt you'll notice much difference, if at all.

One thing that is a little bit of annoyance is, they're rock chuckers. Riding down gravel road, you can hear the rocks pinging off of the underside, wheel well, door, etc. Make sure you have good rock protection, especially if you're towing a trailer--it will get pummeled by rocks.

I just had these (Falken wild peak at3's) installed today. $850 out the door for four. They look bad ass and ride really smooth

^NICE! That's right about what I paid after the rebate. A BFG KO2 would have been $300 more otd.

For the BFG guys, I just saw today some BFG Rugged Terrain tires on a 4runner and they looked nice too - seem to have a mildly beefed sidewall similar to what the new KO2 has.
