BFG KM2? Or Toyo Open Country MT?

Mine were loud from day one, I doubt it will get better. They howl @ 60 mph and up. Who knows? I've heard same about KM2's. Some people think they are nice and quiet, but I know two people looking at a second set of tires because they are sick of the noise.

Do you have flares?

No, but I don't see how flares can mask tread noise?

I've had my Toyos for 6 months or so and am happy but not blown away with them. They do look great on the 80 and are smooth as glass on the road but howl like no other on the highway. Puts the :princess: and dog to sleep instantly on any road trip :D.

Like others have commented; traction when dry is awesome but the same trails give me some trouble when wet. I'll keep these tires until they wear out (which could be years since the 80 isn't a daily driver) and then I'll get something different.

My 2 cents worth...

Flares can absolutely help contain tire noise. Noise can be much worse if the tires stick out beyond the fender.

Perhaps, but my trxus stuck out, too. No such problems with those tires, plus plenty of guys with flares are posting about how Toyos howl. :meh:

Don't know who those guys are, but my Toyos are about as noisy as the BFG ATs I took off. I would expect any set of tires to be louder if they stick out beyond the fenders.

I'm looking at the BFG KM2 or the cooper stt's. Any experience from anyone that has run both? The KM2's are about $70/tire more than the Cooper STT.
