How old are they?

36 months mounted. I need to look at the date code still. It was pouring yesterday.

They were made in late 08.

I've had 5 sets and the only ones that showed cracks were 8 years old, had 80 k miles and sat in Texas sun year-around.

Is this something I should be concerned with? Will BFG do anything?

On second thought, they have only been mounted for about 30 months. Some have a date code of late (51st week) 08 and others mid (40th week) 09. All exhibit this minor cracking.

My experience with BFGs is similar to what you are experiencing. They last a long time but they seem to get hard and lose traction as they age. My .02 worth...

The #1 worse thing about BFG AT tires is that the 285's are made with the perfect size treads to grab SB2 gravel and sling it into all kinds of stuff. Wheel wells take a beating, boat gets rock blasted, sliders get blasted.

If youre like me and spend some time puttin gravel in your travel, dont get BFG's.

Mine looked like that at 18K. I had several blowouts and tread failures during that 22K. Finally got so tired of having issues I filed a claim. If you have tread blocks falling off and the belt showing I would file a claim and get the replaced. I happened to get some VERY old A/T's. LTX's seem to do the same.

^ My LTX spare looks like a dry lake bed.

I think it is normal, every set I have seen has that. That is a zoomed in photo, you've got to look close to see it. I don't know how many miles mine have exactly(at most looks like @30K - Garth would know more exactly) and they were purchased in late 07(date code is on the inside and don't want to crawl under right now)

I'm going to say normal as well, mine look that way...well actually way worse. I've got huge chunks missing in the tread.

Glad to hear it. I won't lose sleep over it and will monitor it accordingly.
