RESOLVED.

Check out the photo of this tire. 20k miles and chunked to the cords. Would you all expect to buy a new tire or have it warrantied? Tire Discounters is where I purchased them a little over a year ago.

I would expect some warranty support for damage like that. At the very least, some prorated amount of credit towards the purchase of a new tire and a break on mount/balance.

I'm with you. If I was running around like I was in my 20's...full throttle that'd be one thing. But man...I am so easy on the gas... I can't believe this tire did that. I've been running this brand since 1996 and never happened before.

I would accept nothing less than warranty coverage for damage like that. If the guys in the shop try to give you crap then take it up with the manager. That tire is missing an entire tread block and could have (did it?) cause a dangerous blow out. The fault for that should not fall on you.

I just drove it 3300 miles to UT and back from TN. With 3 kids. Scary to think about.

Yikes, definitely warranty.

Check the threads in the Tire and Wheels section of the forum on the KO2s.

Others have reported similar problems.

Also, check the date stamp of the tires. IIRC some reported there may have been problems during a mfg. run.

Awesome info thanks

So...the original answer was no. But, after a brief, grown up conversation with the regional manager and BFG, they decided to give me 80% credit toward the new tire. That seemed more than fair to me and I will continue to support the brand!

Good to hear!
