Hello, new member here, I have a 2008 Land Cruiser, time for new tires, thinking about getting the BFG AT 285/65/18...would also like to get the spidertrax 1.25" spacers...wondering if there is any rubbing with this combination? Keeping the stock wheels for now.

On our 4Runner we have the BFG AT KO2 (265/65/18) with spidertrax spacers, and the combination is absolutely perfect. On the 4Runner we also put in a 1/2" front leveling spacer (provides 1" front lift) which worked very well...but to me the Land Cruiser does not seem as raked as the 4Runner...any opinions here?

Thanks!

You'll most likely need to remove the mud-flaps behind the front tires and the tiny little flap in front of them.
Worst case...might have to trim a bit of skirt in the wheel well. Not a big deal.

OK, thanks for the feedback...sounds similar to what was required on my 4Runner...not a big deal but still annoying none the less.

Spidertrax now on order.

Markuson...I see your tires are 285/70/17...so yours are about 0.2 inches larger in diameter (32.7 vs. 32.5)...but width between the 2 tires is the same at 11.5". And your rims are about 10mm wider stance?...I am guessing there will be very little difference in fitment, but only one way to find out!!

I have had 1.25 spacers on all the 200s I have owned and currently own.

I have always ran the oem stock tire size on them.

In reverse with the steering wheel cranked, I do get a slight rub backing into my driveway when it bounces over the drainage hump.

I agree with Mark, your going to need to do some mods to get them to clear.

With my stock tires the occasional rub is so minor. I have never had to mod mine.

I have the BFG 285/65R18 KO2s on 18" wheels on a 2016 with OME lift. I love the tires but have had an ongoing rubbing problem. The mudflaps have been removed and I've trimmed quite a bit of the inner fender area. However, I do still have some rubbing on the passenger side when reversing (the tire clips the far corner of the bumper).

I also get a fair amount of rubbing when wheeling but am still trying to track down what's rubbing. Just today, it sounded like I was rubbing on a suspension component on the driver's side.

I have OEM strut spacers but have not installed them, yet. I've also considered wheel spacers. I've had a local shop tweak/align/etc. a few times hoping to cut down on the problem. TBH, I'm a bit torn between doing spacers and just getting a different size tire.

indycole...I still have a similar issue with my 4Runner...braking while backing up can cause rubbing.

I wish they had an E-rated option for the stock size BFG AT. We tow a travel trailer and in my experience it makes all the difference.

My KO2's are E rated. It's my understanding that the BFG KO2's are not produced in the factory stock size.

Interestingly...Tire Rack lists the tread widths as follows:

275/70/17 = 9.0"
285/70/17 = 9.2"
285/60/18 = 9.7"
285/65/18 = 9.5"

I currently have that exact setup. They will still slighty rub at full turn but it's only on the inside front plastic pieces llama that can easily be cut. We are talking like an inch of plastic. I'm actually putting on different wheels on wont need my 1.25" spidertrax if you'd like to purchase them. Either way you will most certainly need spacers with a 285/65/18

Using elementary trigonometry I calculate the radius of center to tire tread edge of BFG AT 285/70/17 to be 16.98", where as for the 285/65/18 it is 16.93". So pretty much exactly the same.

Thank you Angelo1...exactly what I wanted to hear!

I wonder if I can cancel my spacer order...will let you know. What wheels are you changing to?

I am getting the Fuel Anza D558 that have a 20mm offset as to why I won't need the spacers. They are being put on this coming Thursday. Let me know if you're able to cancel. Slee installed them about a year ago and are in perfect shape.

I will call tomorrow morning and ask about cancelling. With the stock wheels and spacers I think effective offset is 60mm - 32mm =28mm. So you are going a little wider stance...looking forward to seeing how it looks!
