I've been trying to find a set of these and my tire dealer talked to his warehouse and they said they think these are discontinued by the manufacturer.

Does anyone know if this is true, or has anyone bought a set of them lately?

On a related note, has anyone put a set of 33x10.5x15 BFG ATs on a set of factory steelies and did you have any problems with tires rubbing on anything?

Thanks!

If you search you'll find lots of threads like this.

33x10.5 ATs on 5.5" wide rims are weird. The tread will be curved across the top instead of flat as intended by the mfg. I wouldn't do it. MTs would be better, IMO.

Personally, I don't think they look bad at all.

As for the 9.50s, good luck. Like Eddy said, there's been lots of threads on this and no one can find any.

Rick, they are still listed on BFGs website so I would say they are not discontinued. Find another tire dealer. I had a set of 32/11.5-15s on my 80 with over 80,000 miles and still plenty of tread. Excellent tire. I have owned BFGs on all my vehicles since the 1980s. Ya I am that Old.

Thanks Bob.

Technically speaking, for the most part tire manufacturers will not recommend a rim that is more than 4 in narrower than the section width of a tire. Some tire shops will not even mount them.

Folks do it all the time though and I have even seen 12.50's mounted on 6" rims, now that looks really funny.

One thing that may or may not matter to you is that 33 9.50's do not like to be run at lower pressures. I ran Rubicon with 30+ lbs of air in them in my wagon not because I wanted to but if I let more air out they quickly drop onto the side walls.

Switched to 10.50's and I am much happier with them.

Kyle, the BJ looks great! At least I hope that is yours....

I'm in the wholesale tire business. I just did some research on these tires. They are on nationwide backorder. It will more than likely be at least February before you can expect to see any in production. In the grand scheme of things it's just not a very big seller.

Hope this helps. :meh:

Thanks for the info! I was hoping to find someone in the business who could tell me when (if ever) they might do a production run of them...

I''m not in a hurry, so I'll probably check back in Feb.

Thanks for all the help, guys!

That's what I was afraid of...

I agree. They look good. I just didn't like the tread all ballooned out.

OT: Interesting that you blurred out one plate pic but not the other. All the info is still in that sideways pic even though it's not easy to read without some manipulation.

Ha ha. Yeah, I don't usually worry about it at all. I know there are the doom and gloom people on here that say if you show your license plate on the internet, your rigs gonna get stolen in a matter of hours. I'd like to know why its that much different than just driving around town and showing your license plate to everyone you drive past. And, can someone show me a website where you can punch in a license plate number and find the address of the owner?

Hijack over :)

33x10.5 is a more popular width and works fine on the stock wheel.
Here's what the MT's look like on the stock steelie.
And despite the aggressive tread, I don't find that they are too loud.

You may have a hard time finding BFG's but these interco (superswamper) tires are sick looking, notice the bullets on the sidewall :D Many sizes but not 9.5. Been saving up to get me some :D I resently seen them on the discovery show "Sons of Guns" The main guy was talking to a worker and leaning on his spare tire...the SSM16. Or if you really want tall skinny's then check out the Narrow SS on the site, third pic

Good luck to ya

I installed said tires and did experience rubbing on the rear when cornering with the stock suspension. I did the Rancho AAL lift and everything has been fine since then.
