Discrimination. You are excused from being wrong 🤭

The right order from top to bottom best to worst looking.. it's simple, really.

'13-15 LC
'13-15 LX
'16-21 LC
'16-21 LX
'08-11 LC
'08-11LX
Ok now I’m feeling even more confident that I’d get a good deal on an 08-11 LX if y’all seen to think it’s the ugliest haha! I like knowing I can remove the chrome molding on the side as well (unlike 13-15).

The beauty rankings
2016+ tlc
All the other models except
2016+ lx

It was a bit of a pain in the ass but I wrapped the chrome on the lower molding of my 13LC and it vastly improved the appearance. LX still has to worry about door handles and belt trim, but that has all been done before.

I personally like having the molding on my LC, helps protect the body from parking lot dents. And its not too difficult to wrap, unlike the window moldings on LXs and 16+ LCs.

I don’t have much experience wrapping so elected to remove the chrome portions from the molding to wrap cleanly then reattach. This involved separating a lot of 3M VHB.

There probably isn't a bad value model year in the bunch, so long as the example isn't rusting out and in disrepair.

There's a pretty wide price spread. From an early model year LX which is every bit a Land Cruiser and then some, with a high level of features and content. All the way to a late model year HE that is high on... heritage. All of which are full strength 200-series at its core, capable stock, or built to be whatever the owner wants.

@pcut are you a 200 convert? I think I'd like that 13-15 LX but I'm also very happy with my 100 series. A lot of what I read from people who have owned both makes it sound like a 200 series is always the better option. Looks wise I give it to the 100, but the 200 series LX I drove was really impressive.
I am a total convert. I really missed the 100 series until about 100 miles down I-15 from Park City in the '19 LX and never looked back. It does everything better in my experience although I have not really wheeled the LX since I did enough damage to the 100 series going through Kane Creek Canyon to cure me of any more wheeling. I'll stick to fire roads and the like from now on.

For me personally the tech was important, safety , gearbox, brakes etc. I realized no Lx models (I only wanted LX, in Aus all of the LC have the twin turbo diesel only. Yuck.) have CarPlay and all head units on all models are completely compromised solution's when installed. They simply don’t work as factory, it would sh*t me to tears with any gremlin, I have lived through this with other cars.

I was addicted to CarPlay, and thought I couldn’t live without it. After buying a 16 LX, the mic / speaker combo is so damn good from factory, calls so crystal clear, I have just being using Siri. ā€œHey siri, read my last text messageā€ etc etc. Same result kind of. And I commute 8hrs a week minimum, so I don’t say this lightly, I’m always on the phone in the car.

I am on my phone 24/7 with work (yuck), and even with that in mind, the factory Bluetooth clarity and sound is so good I don’t dare start messing with it.. the sound system THUMPS when cranked too. Its so much more relaxing just driving without CarPlay!!

Add to this the fact that my wife loves to crash cars and this thing has so much safety tech, it was an easy decision.. the car is so sick. I love it. #noragrats

Drove a ā€˜17 today, out the door it was $58k. It was nice. Maybe a little too nice for my purposes. I was thinking I’d rather keep my ā€˜06 for ~ 1/3 of the price. Or more than likely bump up to a 2011 for a bit less than 1/2 the price. Similar driving dynamics, I won’t feel bad throwing stuff from Home Depot or having a baby make a mess in the $25k version like I would the $55k version.
