My buddy has a 01' Z71. Bought a set brand new, rotated every 5K miles and got a total of 22K out of them. Just stating my experience.

In addition, I rubbed up against a tree and cut my side wall with them.

I have nothing against the company, the new KM2 is an awesome tire...

I guess we've had different experiences then. Like I said earlier, I've rotated my tires once in the past 20k, and still have nips on them. I haven't had problems with sidewalls when rubbing up against sharp boulders and such either.

Oh well, to each his own.

I think I managed to rotate mine once in 60k miles. Call me lazy, but I agree with you, they seem to last forever.

What psi do you run? I run about 40, but I always haul a bunch of tools and crap.

BFG's recent redo of the MT might be a good solution for you...I think they're supposted to have better manners/less road noise than the current/ older model. depends how far off road you're planning on getting. the ATs might do the trick on their own.

Can anyone confirm the performance of the new BFG Mt's? I am looking to get a new set of tires soon.

Im actually thinking about getting them (BFG at's) for my DD taco.
I think theyd be fine for that duty and the occasional fire road/ death valley excursions, but for a wheeler that see's primarily agressive terrain...Id go with the MT's.
Some of the guyz in my local club run the AT's and love them...They like the skinny pedal, and claim that when they heat up, they grab nothing else...

Everyone has their own thing.

Im diggin on the Wrangler MTR's too, but Ive never had any experience with em.

I run mine around 32 which I feel is actually on the high side for such a big tire, it makes fairly even contact across the tread at this pressure, a bit light on the edges. Of course I air down a substantial amount when I'm heading into the back country, usually to about 20 PSI so I don't feel every rock, I can still travel at higher speeds on the dirt roads and still travel on the pavement if needed.

My brother is on his second set of MTRs. He likes the traction, but they are short lived, like 25K if your lucky. His rig is an '85 truck, a fly weight compared to a beefed up FJ60.

I run MT/R's and have had nothing but good luck with them. I liked them so much my buddy got a set for his mini-truck and now he also swears by them

Anybody use the Toyo A/T?

Doesn't seem like anyone answered this...so, yes. I have them. Very good tire in my opinion. I haven't driven them enough to know what kind of life you'll get (they were on my 62 when I bought it--I've had it a year, but only drive maybe 5k). I have heard other people say they last though.

They grip well on most surfaces and do well in the dirt...haven't had them in any serious mud, but I'd guess they aren't as good as a MT (duh), though better than the BFG AT (the tread is more like a MT than a BFG AT).

They are stable and quiet...no problem at 75 on the freeway.

I like em.

I think I posted this already but what about the Maxxis Bighorns??? They are not as expensive as the BFG MT's and still look pretty meaty. MTR's are really expensive$$$$

I have BFG ATs for the road (2 came with the truck and have about 60 000 miles SINCE I got the truck, thinking of replacing them with new ones since it's getting icy/snowy) and TSLs for fun.

I'm with RockDoc on the two sets of tires deal. I currently run 33x12.50 15's and the sidewalls are tough. Took a nice AZ jagged rock to the side and didn't punch through the carcass. I'm planning on running the Interco Trxus MT's for off road because of their siping and my old 31x10.50 15 Yokohama's for on-road purposes since they handle so nice and are about a 1/16th worn after almost two years.

For light toy p/u's, I think there is nothing better. I freaking love them in the dirt. And that's in the DIRT. Not the rocks, or the mud, and sand is just ok.

I am running the Dunlop MT's which have been great offroad but not something I would run on a DD. I have heard a lot of good things about the Toyo MT's too. I don't think you can go wrong with a pair of BFG AT for all around best use.

Im picking up a set of Bridgestone 694 this week. Im getting the light truck version 235x85xR16 to keep drag down.
Ive had the BFG A/T but I blew 3 of them on a return trip from Perth to Alice Springs via the dirt road.
The petrol stations in central oz only stock 7.50x16.
I think the side walls are a little too thin for anything more than light wheeling in sand.
They were ok on the sealed roads.
Ive been running some cheap Roadstone 235x85xR16 on split rims for the last 12 months and my fuel consumption improved by about %5 after removing the BFG AT 33x10.5x15

I did this same trip in 1991. I ran the bfg all terrain on a stock rim 33 x 9.5 x 15 They were also studded as I drove out of Alaska. We spent 3 months on the road from Alaska to panama. I never had one issue with tires. they were a good choice for all around cruisin. on and off road. also being tall and skinny the mpg was okay to deal with. although when I did this trip gas was about $1.25 a gallon Have fun and let me know if you need any planning material as I still have all the stuff from our trip in 91'

I have bfg at's on 3 of the 5 trucks i have and the other 2 have bfg g forces.
over the past 10 years i have had about 11 sets of at's on different trucks and have had good luck with them all. the most i ever got out of a set was 70k and i gave them to a buddy that got 20k more. on my F350 i have about 40k on them and i will probably get 20k more before i replace them and I tow a decent amount. and they are only D rated instead of E that 3/4ton are suppose to have.

LONG LIVE THE BFG AT

the toyos cant even hold a candle to them, i have the bfg at 32x1150, bro in law has the toyos, last weekend he couldnt get up a loose dirthill, i could, switched cruisers, i couldnt get his up it, he drove mine to the top

they might be a little more money but you cannot beat the BFG

I've tried the BFG AT and MT and I'm less than a fan of these tires. Presently running a set of 33x10.5 ATs on one of the 60s as I wanted to try out this tire size and because this Cruiser is not seeing any real mud. Mileage on this set of tires may approach 40k. When these tires wear out no more BFGs on this Cruiser.

Then there's the MT, maybe BFG has strengthened the sidewalls of this tire. As mud tire I found them to be marginal and having one sliced open while scraping a dull pine stump  lowered my opinion of these tires. There are tires around which are better and cheaper than the BFG MT, they just don't have the recognition.
