I'd prefer a radial, but I'm open to suggestions. And I'm also looking to run 315-75-16 or 35x12.50-16. I'm running a 3'" OME heavy lift. Not much of a daily driver, but would like a fairly decent ride to and from the 4 wheeling spots.

Goodyear Duratracs are tough to beat for a tire that can hang offroad, and does well in the rain/snow/ice conditions you'll run into on-road. Not loud on-road like some either.

Nitto Mud Grapplers or Toyo Mud Terrains.

I would go with the Cooper Discoverer STT's, a lot cheaper than the Toyo's and have the same basic design, and perform very well in the mud.

Only if they come off backorder or you pay through the nose for shipping.

I got tired of waiting and bought a set of Mickey Thompson Baja MTZs.

A lot of Toyo open country MT out there. I just ordered some 37x13.5x17 for mine.

We've been selling a lot of the Nitto Terra Grapplers and Trail Grapplers lately. They seem to be a pretty good tire. A few of the guys in the shop are running the Terra Grapplers on their personal DD trucks and they love them. I have heard good things about the Trail Grapplers as well. The Mud Terraians are pretty aggressive and I personally would not want to run them on my DD. I've actually been thinking about going with the Terra Grapplers when my Tundra needs tires.

I like my Terra Grapplers

They do very well off road, Ive been through plenty of mud, and 18" of snow. I dont know how they do in rock but they stick to the road like glue. They did very well while traveling through a snow storm. They work well with the truck.

Very happy with my 33-12.5x15 Duratracs in the snow and ice this past winter. Have only been in the muck with them a couple times and they worked very well. As someone else said they aren't too hard on the ears either.
Fortunately up here in Canada they aren't that hard to get....

It seems that the Toyo MT love is coming back... For a while all I heard was negative reviews. Kinda like the BFG AT, wore like iron, but crappy traction and there were much better options. That and they were only good for the diesel truck wanna be off roader. I wonder what has changed? Rubber compound? Nothing?

If there is any chance of your truck seeing mud, stay away from the KO's. I love them as a daily driver, but Georgia red clay is some of the worst mud out there:o, and the KO's plug up real fast. Plus they hold pebbles like putty:mad:. But besides those downfalls, they make a superb daily driver, and even though I would like a mud tire, the KO's are perfect for me in terms of handling, wear, and the fact that my truck sees 90% street time:cool:.

Thornbirds.

Please tell me your kidding:doh:

I thought he asked for offroad guys. Duratracks are great ATs but it sounds like he wants something more serious.

If interco is making them, get tsl radials! I have never had a better off-road tire that was decent on the hard stuff.

If not, bighorns are great for the price

IMO, best radial street tire for offroad use = KM2s.

Best offroad tire for street use = Interco SSR or Trxus.

Thornbirds..............................................................

I like km2's. That's just me. Some people say they suck in the Ice but I live in New England and have no issues.

Nitto Terra Grapplers
I got 62,000 miles out of my last set and just put a new set on.
Was thinking about the DuraTracs but reviews say they wear quickly like 40-45K or less.
BUT my 80 is more of a DD: does great in rain, no issues in rock, ok in snow, haven't had it in mud.

On my third set of km2s! Work great in every situation.

I've a set of Simex Jungle Treker II's ((33.4x16) and there are superb in the mud. Won't recommend as a DD thou.
Run a set of Toyo MT's for snow and better on the rocks/road.

i drive to the top of pikes peak in colorado thats 14,000+ feet one of the highest peaks in the US, everyday with my duratracs and they are awesome
