Fwiw - I have had a Waeco CF-50 now for several years with zero issue. I prefer it over the couple of other fridges I have owned in the past and present. It is my belief the power consumption my be slightly more then a ARB but lower price and features won my vote. If it died today I would purchase the same model tomorrow without hesitation.

The only problem I had with my CF-50, was when my brother hooked up the cig adapter backwards(+to-,-to+). Blew the main board. With a new one been going for 5 years since.

That was not a problem with fridge, the problem was your brother:flipoff2:

I have a 50Q and a 63Q before that I had a 84Q. Non of my fridges were ARB mainly because I do not like the way the lid opens and the access it gives. The 84Q will hold 201 12oz beverages so its very big. Too big to fit inside the door of our popup trailer. I have a 50Q in my 80 and I never need for more space and have lived out of it for several days. Any fridge will require replacing beverages as you go. Our 63Q is larger then our family of 3 needs but the price was right(cheap) so it is fine. For one person and sometimes 2 a 37Q will be fine and require space and less power to run.

A couple other thing to consider. How does the lid open? Will it clear the ceiling on top of the drawer system when open. Will you be able to see inside sitting on top of the drawer system? A empty fridge is much less efficient the a full fridge. IIRC the first 3 sizes use the same size compressor and have the same running amp draw just run longer due to size. Organization is a must with any fridge. I have several different open stack-able containers to aid in what Im carrying. Figure into your cost an insulating blanky no matter brand or model you end up with. Make sure your fridge has ample ventilation it is key to an efficient running fridge.

Regarding lid clearance, I installed these side hinges on my previous generation ARB fridge, which allows the lid to open from the side.

Does this have the danafrost compressor

I have a ARB 50qt. and LOVE it. Had for two years with no issues. Hopefully many years of no issues to come. Not as hot here in CT. so maybe that will keep her going longer. Hell, 6 months out of the year the outdoors is a fridge.

So...I got the "hot alert" on the Edgestar 63 qt fridge super sale and jumped on one of two left this afternoon - it is on its way! Rudster, I heard you snagged up the other one...?

I guess I don't have to sneak any more frosty beverages out of Phil's fridge anymore~

That be correct - no more ice and more room for beverages

What?! I cant hear you...youre too far behind me......:flipoff2:
So far my experience shows its only short lived and I will end up waiting for you in the end:grinpimp: do I need to post pictures:flipoff2:

You cant win if you dont finish;)

He's just harrassing me. When we were running the beach last weekend between rocky point and elgulfo I popped my hood open and he took a picture. In the summer heat, running fast in deep dry sand for miles on end my ultraguage showed me running warm (ran fine, ac still very cold, no leaks or issues) but when we stopped I opened up the hood to cool down. I'm a guage watcher and wanted to do some testing. Funny thing is, if I didn't have a guage, id never know and just kept driving it - dang guage!
Definetly runs hotter than Phils non sc engine. With a laser temp guage and monitoring our guages, we found by running with my hood cracked open while running kept it cooler. The theory is accumulated heat soak trapped under the hood. Pop it open at stops and it cools down fast. Closed stays warm. Most of the heat buildup is at the pass rear firewall area. 2nd worse is drivers rear firewall. My hood vents are further forward and don't address these areas.
I actually added spacers to my hood hinges after I got home to slightly raise the back of my hood to let the air flow out. The testing continues - just the tech in me to fiddle with it to find more things to fuss with. :D

Sorry to hijack the thread Mike!

Question: now that I bought a fridge, I am looking for ideas to run power to it? Currently I most likely won't be adding solar or a second battery. I don't go out for days on end like some do - so not really needed imo. ( famous last words lol)

Running power to a behind-the-panel small inverter? Add a voltage reader in the system a good idea? One suggestion i liked was to run heavy guage wiring to the cig lighter and run it off that for the ability to move it between my two LC's.

showed up yesterday and found only this one little dent on one of the bottom corners. it will be covered up with a blanket anyway so it doesnt matter. I got it unboxed this morning and set the temp for 40 degrees. It is now plugged in and under my desk here at work. so far so good, lets see how she cools.

I suppose if you have the little jump start box with you then a single battery isn't too risky. I thought the inverters were additional power losers though, why not just straight 12v power to the rear?

Its looking like that will be the set up as of now. It got down to 00 after hitting the FF (Fast freeze) button. Now to take it home and see it the DC power will work. ILl need to run heavier wiring for continued use but will risk the cig lighter for the test in the am.
