The one dealer for the James Baroud tents is on Vancouver Island/Sidney. So I'll go down and check them out. The prices, in Canada anyways, are similar to within a few bucks of the Maggiolina tents. I will take some pics and post impressions when I see them late this week/early next week.
I have to admit, the moisture clearing fan intrigues me, as well as the quick opening system.

Thanks for the link.
please, do post pics...and see about inside dimensions too...
I like to compare them to the autohome...

Just got back from the McGrew trail run and the 2nd weekend in my www.tentsonarack.com. RTT. Jason and wife Sharron are great to work with. My cover was damaged in shipping ,no problems getting a replacement. They are made in China from the same mfg. As ARB CVT and others. No name name branding on it anywhere and saved several hundred. Works flawlessly!

Hey, I just was your post with your new awning. Which RTT do you have now?

I got the Autohome Columbus..

picking up an RTT from tents on a rack tomm, will post up my findings, hopefully it is a quality unit, they have some good prices and I am saving alot on shipping.....

Looking forward to your review. I'm on the hunt for 2 tents, could do the expensive route but if I can save a buck or two that's always good.

sure thing, yeah the $250 bones for shipping was just killing it for me, Jason at tentsonarack is a real nice dude, so far so good working with him, I am meeting him this weekend and he is even installing the unit on my truck for free, can't ask for more than that.

an another note, how many people really use the annex attachment room? I am swaying towards just not getting this. Seems like something I just won't use. Most of the time we are camping in decent weather so I don't really see the need. Plus I usually like to cook on the tailgate in the open while watching the views.

and another, how many people really use the ladder extensions? I plan on a 4 inch lift with 35's eventually so I would want the ladder to fit with that setup for sure.

If you need the ladder extension for the height then get it. It should be fairly cheap.

We tell our customers if they are on the fence about an annex to not get one. While they work well I've never personally had a need for one.

Shipping can easily be less than $200. We average around $165 in the CONUS for a RTT like a Mombasa.

Enjoy your new RTT!

It seems a lot of people are interested in autohome rtt but find it hard to view one to see what they are like before they think of pulling the trigger. I live in the Okanagan in BC and if any cruiser head wishes to view and climb into mine to see what they are like they are welcome anytime. My model is the airtop maggiolina

Just a public offer

I want to thank you for the offer, the dealer is in Kamloops according to the Autohome.ca website. Is that where you got yours? I live on Vr Isl., otherwise I'd take you up on it. I've not seen one on the island, but I will be looking at the John Baroud RTT's in Sidney soon. For me it will one or the other.
Have you ever carried a canoe tied to your Airtop?

guppy: any word on the quality of tent on a rack? which one did you go for?

I am very happy with the tent. Jason was great to work with. That being said, I have not actually used it yet, just mounted it. Time is short with school right now. I plan a short overnight trip to the beach this coming weekend and will post pics. Ordered a baja rack utility flat rack or the RTT as well. Jason told me that these are exact duplicates of CVT and arb tents and from what I can tell, they are exactly that. Even made by the same mfg's. I am happy that I saved quite a bit on shipping costs, taxes, etc over the other available units out there. Time will tell if the tent holds up but I have no reason to think it won't.

thanks noah! i'm local to them so maybe i'll check their equipment out soon! saving on shipping these things is pretty great.

where will you be beach camping if you don't mind me asking? i'm frequently in SD and i don't know of any legal spots to beach camp

Jason told me that these are exact duplicates of CVT and arb tents...

Many of the Chinese manufactured tests are very very similar. ARBs are manufactured in Thailand under company supervision and are a step higher in quality and design hence the higher price. The Chinese tents will work great for a frequent weekend explorer though. We are just upgrading the tent on the shop FJC and trailer to an ARB after about 3 heavy years of use in a Mombasa. I thought about an AutoHome but it didn't fit on my trailer like I wanted it to - the quality is amazing though.

not exactly beach camp but san onofre, san elijo, south carlsbad are all beach camps.....

finally got time to setup the tent today with my daughter, she is very excited, I am happy with it, took some time to figure out how everything comes together. The annex room is nice but is kind of a pain to put on. I really only see myself using that when the girls are with me. The tent is super easy to put up and down. Literally probably in 10 minutes I will have it setup ready to go when I need it.

Again, got it from www.tentsonarack.com, jason was great to work with. I have no doubt that it will work great for my family.

I really can't compare quality with CVT, ARB and others as this is my first RTT. But from all the videos and information I have consumed it seems very similar at a much more reasonable pricing, so that makes me happy.
