Best pinch weld solution?

After the last outing my solution of "great stuff" filling the whole and trimming back the plastic has become a little messy looking. The inner fender trim is also getting frayed an making that wonderful rubbing noise we all love so much.
Looking for a better option.

Just a thought but you could purchase some black abs plastic on Amazon, and just cut it to fit the exposed area. It's pretty inexpensive and they have it in just about every size configuration you can think of.

Just get it done right and get a plate welded in. Best option IMO.
 
You'll want get that foam out of there cause it's going to trap moisture. Welding in a small patch strip along the pinch weld to seal it off.

As for creating a cover or mud flap an alternate option to ABS, would be Kydex which is a little more flexible, resilient and you can form it with a heat gun(repeatedly). You can also find Kydex on Amazon.
