So I am new to the landcrusier scene and I need to get a new power steering gearbox for my 1987 FJ60. What companies have the most complete catalogs that would offer a good price on a steering gearbox? The only one I could find wants over $1000 that sounds crazy to me!!! Thanks, Andy

Depends on how fast you need one. Search Ebay, you see them ever once in awhile for a lot less then $1000.

Good luck-

gearbox

I have seen one or two on ebay but I would like to get a new one or a rebuild kit so it is right. I don't mind having to specal order as long as when the job is done it is right. Andy

Why do you need a steering box? Best bet is to get one from somebody who's parting out a cruiser. For starters, look at cruiserparts.net...used are ~$150, remand'd are ~$500. Lots cheaper than $1000...

TheSteeringStore.com has 'em for about $450 exchange IIRC. But they were out of 'em in December when I twisted the shaft on mine, so I bought one from Cruiseroutfitters. Then didn't use it 'cause a mechanic friend of mine pointed out that 45 degrees at the steering wheel is less than 5 on the shaft & there's no way of knowing whether or not a rebuilt one (or yours) has been twisted.

So my used Cruiseroutfitters one is for sale. Has a nice layer of protective Northeast rust.

I listen someone here that send his old steering box .. and recive it, compelte rebuild for 200 aprox .. in few days .. no remember ho but let me search the thread.
