I'm looking at mounting a cb antenna on my GX, but want to mount on the rear of the vehicle. The few mounts I have seen look like some one size fits all contraption but are pretty ugly. Anyone find a good way to mount an antenna above the taillight or somewhere on the back?

There isnt a purpose built one. I went to a HAM and mounted to my Iron Man bumper loop in front.

I might just have something fabricated out of stainless plate that looks and works well for that spot just above the passenger side tail light. No idea, but is stainless ok for grounding or antenna performance?

Should be. Most end up chromed for conducting the signal, but if you ground properly I imagine stainless would work?

thanks Dan
the quest for the perfect mount continues... but after all this time, I am finally starting to get this GX into shape for the trail. ordered the CB today, next stop Suspension and sliders. can't wait

That's a nice bracket...if I don't mount mine on the back, I could use that. I went with the Midland 75-822 handheld with the car adapter (for external antenna/power/microphone). I normally have the "analysis/paralysis" problem, but this one seemed easy to pick. I didn't need the best CB, just something usable and adaptable to use as a handheld. I am going to have a local CB guru tune the radio and the antenna setup for me. It should work well for the trail and any highway jabbering. Now I just need a really awesome "handle" that makes me sound cooler than I actually am... "this here is ______, how bout that wooly bugger, you got your ears on, come back"

I plan to put in on a ram mount so it is easy to see and operate when needed.

wow, I really like those...thanks I will see which one would fit my rear hatch
