Wanted to get a Jim C rebuild but I need to save some dough (sorry jim). Anyway, is there a good place to get everything I need for a good rebuild to include diaphrams, accel pump boot cover, etc? Thanks.

Jim C sells a rebuild kit. I don't know if he sells a kit for the 85 carburetor, but he had a kit for my 76 Carburetor. I bought one from him. It wasn't bad to rebuild at all. The kit included some stuff that other rebuild kits don't like secondary diaphragm, power valve and OEM Aisan Float. It costs me $47 shipped. It seems like a nice kit. I didn't want to get half way through ripping the carburetor apart and realize I was missing something like a power vavle or a float, so I just bought the complete kit from Jim C. You could just buy a basic kit and buy the other items from Cruiserdan or Toyota dealer.

My rebuild cost the following:

$47 Rebuild Kit Jim C
$30 Carburetor Cleaner (gallon dip stuff)
$10 Mineral Spirits (1 gallon)
--------------------------
$87 Total

Good luck on your rebuild and remember to label things carefully as you take them apart. Some things (like check balls) look simular but they are different sizes. Some of the linkages were tricky to put back together too. Use the carb dip to clean it. Mine needed srubbed before I put it in the carburetor dip. Remember to NOT put plastic in the carburetor dip.

Jim quoted me around $300 with a 2-3 week turnaround. But he knows what he is doing and even checks it on a 2f motor. I had him do one for my old FJ40 many years ago and it seemed to run really nice. I just need to save the dough for a 5-speed and new clutch. I have the carb dip solution so I figured I would try it on another carb that I have from an '87 FJ60. I'll contact him for a rebuild kit.
