What's the Aux light you reach for most? Why? How'd you mount it? How do you control it?
What's the Aux light you wish you had? Why?

Looking for a few great ideas on lighting for trail and camp.

Not so much about brand, but about location and use of light.

I installed the Baja Design Squadron Pro driving lights (non SAE) in the stock driving light provisions. They are switched into the stock steering wheel rotary switch. Pretty much plug and play. Very happy with them.

I had Baja Designs squadrons but switched to Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro SAE ambers. Supposedly they comply to DOT regulations so you can run them on the road. A few weeks ago I got caught in some really heavy fog in the central valley heading to Southern California on Highway 5. I think the lights were a pretty big help in that situation. I've used them a few times in other situations and they put out an amazing amount of light. My brother-in-law has BD squadron amber SAEs and we both agree my Diode Dynamics are brighter.

Apples and oranges. SAE, is better than stock, and can run all the time. The BD pro is amazing at 4,600 lunes per, and orders of magnitude better than SAE, but too bright for urban use.

But to the OP's actual question:

I have 4 leds on my steps courtesy of Slee and really like them. I'm about to mount a couple side red leds on my rack for unloading, and the rig definitely needs a red hatch light (I went for a selectable). Still sitting on my desk.

I run my non SAE Baja design Squadron pros on the interstate early in the morning and no one has ever flashed a light from the oncoming Lanes. I do turn them off when I'm approaching someone when I can see they're in the rear view mirror. Being in Arizona and not having to go through any type of state inspection here, I wasn't concerned about installing SAE lights which I understand are no brighter than the stock.

The Diode Dynamics SS3 pro SAEs are incredibly bright. Much, much brighter than stock. I think they're as bright as the squadrons I had. The beam is cut off at the top to help prevent blinding other traffic.

For camp lights I use my retrofitted factory fog lights I put in the rear reflectors. They work pretty well. The red tint doesn't attract bugs which is nice.

Here is my setup with the BAJA Design Squadron Pro and ARB BASERACK Slimline light bar.

For driving lights, I don't have any outward crazy lights up front other than the addition of a small pair of Rigid D-Pro Spots. Where I make up for this is modifying the stock lights with high power LEDs in all positions. Then hacking the logic so all stock 3x pairs of driving, fog, and highbeams, + Rigid's can be on simultaneously. Stock logic only allows 2x pairs at once, so this easily outpowers the stock setup with broader and brighter coverage. Doesn't leave me wanting for more.

For camp, like @bloc , I like my rear fogs. More than that, I like rock lights, as it's a nice indirect ambient that I can leave for hours on end with barely any draw.

SwitchPros has proven to be worth every penny. Built in low batt cutoff, BT control, complex logic and relay functions, dimming.

Here's a thread that might have more ideas for you
