That's never good to hear. Symptoms??

That sounds like it's out of my realm of experience. I've never had to deal with auto trannies before. My guess is something with the ignition/timing but that shouldn't keep it from engaging into gear. I have heard that a bad torque converter can cause all kinds of strange behavior but I have no idea how to diagnose that.

Dude that is no good.. might take that spare block with you while you are at it, just in case.
You getting thick oil out the exhaust? Might be the rings?

well quick update here. got my truck down to Stockton after Okie-Rigging brake lights from my frineds Ford for the 5 hour drive down to Stockton. of course it did not go according to plan and we made it to Stockton at 5am the day of the annual cruiser swapmeet that was at 9 AM. Traci and I slept in the parking lot of georgs shop for a few hours and was woken up by Dominic (BROKEN WRENCH) who works for Georg lol

after puttering around the meet for a while, I met up With Machinist and we all checked out the sweet cruisers. after goofing off it was back to Georgs shop to get doors and things and I got to Drive Chucks sprung over fj60 with the same engine and transmission set up as mine except with Axle Wrap lol. cool rig, but I now know I do not want to spring over or go bigger on tires, its way too high up for my uses lol

at the shop it was a frenzy of people stripping down cruisers, I got 2 front doors to make into half doors thanks to Georg because he is awesome amongst other things here and there that I needed.

anyway my truck has been with Georg for a while now and in the process got a Transmission rebuild, a new Dizzy cap, and is currently getting a new power steering gearbox put in as we speak. all in all it could be worse and ill be getting the truck back soon. :bounce::bounce2:

here are some pics of several months ago when I had to get my truck trailered to a local shop up here

tut tut what am I going to do, my parents house is looking like a cruiser scrapyard haha
pass and drivers side fenders
pass and drivers side inner fendsers
a set of the front doors, spare bumper and a bunch of other crap haha

You are welcome to store it in my side yard in Carson however, I will not be responsible if some of the parts should end up on BeBe. :D

Walker,it's good to hear that your rig will be back on the road soon.so what's causing your oil burning?did the trans, decided to implode?Georg will surely handle your rig with care even if you don't. J/K :D

Ready to go home ........

Rebuilt trans. Resealed steering box. Replaced steering shaft with good used part to save some $s.

Sooooooo much better! :steer:

if I wanted something that didn't take any skill to break id get a bimmer haha I like working to achieve my motto, breakin a yota takes some skill haha

as for what George did, he pulled my shot to hell steering box and put in a used one with some new output seals and what not, ill let you deal with price with him. but that's what he did for me. not exactly just a seal job lol

ahh I forgot about that acronym, I try not to take the truck to shops if I can DIY it to save some cash, but im always happy to support Georg and his shop with parts and what not if I need to

my buddies yota truck is a testament to how awesome they are. its a 4banger Toyota truck and it has 350k something original miles on the lower half of the engine and on the transmission and has been rolled twice and looks like a turd but dang it has lasted a while. its not a pretty truck by any means though lol

well this sucks, haven't updated in a while, many thanks to georg for the new powersteering box and all his other help! ill go into that later. but right now I gotta do a valve job and possibly intake manifold gasket.

Sorry Machinist! I know we were supposed to go fishing today but im rolling coal like a diesel and cant make it that far right now. til next time though!
