Whoa, whoa! Not all of usn's from the CO drink Northern Tea! Besides, what are you doing drinking tea in the microbrew capital of the country anyway?

Looks like y'all had a great time.. Except for all that MUD and PUDDLES!!! Darrell's 60 is gorgeous! I need to ask him how he likes the SR while driving on the street.
How was that RRC set up, it looks badass.
And was that jeep rolling on black 20" KMC with 35" trail grapplers or toyo MTs? Asher would LOVE that LOLOLOL!

The SR isn't too bad on the road, although I don't really have anything to compare it to. Just kind of bounces along... :bounce2:

Here's a closer pic of that jeep:

That poor jeep in the photo, It never had a chance of keeping up ! :D

he made it pretty well with the big tires compared to me, but his Dana axles are tiny! and its actually a pretty low sitting rig from what i remeber going throught the mud pit

hmmmm my truck bumps along haha and its my DD. im pretty sure my back hates me!

and how dare you pollute my thread with a full size picture of a J**p, now my thread has lost all credibility!!! :bang:

so the tally for things i have done to the rig over the past week
Fixed: Transmission/T-case mount, Knuckle seals and axle rebuild
Broken: Tail light cover, another head light, Offroad Lights, Steering Damper and lost a ton of screws off my front grille. at least its nothing major!

also the current tally for recovered/rescued cars/trucks is 4 Toyotas, 1 Ford and 1 Nissan.

Seriously Chevy Dealership? gah trying to diagnose my tranny since its a GM mfg and then chevy gives me the run around in their service dept. because i have to tell them what its in... this is why i dont tell people its in a toyota when im at the autoparts store or when talking to vendors of chevy parts...time to diagnose without a car lift...grrr

on the plus side, I got my tail light covers from Specter offroad today, found my spare headlight bulb and got some parts ordered from Toyota. specifically some more gromets for the front head light trim and the steering wheel horn contact pin for the steering colum. which took 20 mins and the removal of my steering wheel in the toyo parking lot...fun times haha

Do you plan on putting a lift on her? are you running 31/10.5 R15 ?

Cheers
Brandon

those are the rims i have with 31in kelley mud tires, i do have a slight body lift (about 1-2 inches or so) plus in the rear i have a med-heavey spring pack and some bigger spring packs in the front. the PO never told us what the springs were and all that since it was the owner before him that put them on. im gonna go out and clean my engine block tonight after yesterdays mud escapade so ill be taking a pic for ya and putting it up tonight along with some more Axle rebuild pics

thanks for the pm, just checked out your thread. good to see you're out there using the cruiser for it's intended purpose! :steer:

to fix your lockup issue, i would buy a completely new lockup kit and install it. the one you have in there now sounds like it's either a home-brew or just too simple to work properly and the solenoid could possibly be fried.

painless wiring makes a decent kit, but don't run the cotk gasket they supply. go to your local transmission shop and get a "paper" pan gasket. don't use any silicone or other adhesives, the paper gaskets are designed to go on dry. but clean up the pan bolts well and put a dab of blue loctite on each one. might as well buy a new filter while you're at it. and you'll need 4 quarts of ATF .....

sweet! thanks georg, your the best! time to do a parts run today after work

so i am looking at this kit here http://www.painlesswiring.com/webcatalog/largeview.php?SearchField=60109

and it has the manual switch, can i just ignore the switch and connect the TCC up to my computer or should i just install the way it says too? I would rather not have another switch to play with while driving and since its my DD i just want automatic lockup/disengage when im driving around or am i missing something about the kit/looking at something for one i dont need?

Install everything in the kit. You need the brake switch ( might already have one in the truck ) so the lockup circuit is interrupted when the brakes are applied. The vacuum switch will interrupt the circuit when you accelerate heavily. And the 4th gear pressure switch will allow for lockup in 4th gear only.

Did you fix the shock bushings? Is the clunking noise gone/better? How's the steering with the rebuilt knuckles?

what's your ave Mpg? I would think better then the stock engine?

it used to get 14-16 until the transmission went haywire on me which is getting remedied now. it currently gets 10 city, 11 highway (or coasting downhill with a tail wind)

ok i mis read the description and i thought it meant a 2 position switch in the cab. i will be ordering this in the next few days and be installing shortly. thanks for all the help

my dad and i went ahead and replaced the front damper with a new one and i got the truck back today (ran out of time to install myself) the new damper helps a lot with the steering, the clunk got quieter with the knuckle rebuild and it disappeared completely with the damper installed. the steering is way easier with the new knuckle seals and inner axle seal and im loving it!

thank you so much for the :wrench: advice. Bessie is a huge step closer to being perfect mechanically so i can start working on goodies like lockers, sliders and bullbars.
