**** thats a big bird, nice rig

Thanks! I was taking the rig to one of my fishing spots and was gonna cast a line, saw the goose swimming on the water, grabbed my gun in the back and dropped him and continued on to fishing :hillbilly:

Ok, so I went to Valley hybrids in Stockton and it is run by one of the members here and he is AWESOME! I got a bunch of parts for projects, it turns out my knuckles arent going out as badly as i previously thought and my transmission is having Lockout problems that will be addressed shortly.

the list for the month is Transmission mounts replacement, rebuild knuckles, and fiddle with the Transmission electronics. I am also starting to look into twin sticks for the transfer case after chatting with georg. He is a great guy and took about an hour out of his day to accomodate me and my questions about the LC. Highly impressed and will be contacting him again.

on a side not i have never seen so many 60 series crammed into a garage before next to a 55 series, a couple 40s and an 80 i believe. really neat shop and excellent service.

Sweet birds! Good to hear you're knuckles are in dire need of a rebuild.
I'd love to check out some shops on the west coast. See if y'all do things like we do in the dirty south lol. Keep up the good work and post a TON of pics!!!

dirty south eh? us Cali boy get plenty dirty! if you make a trip out here, i know some good trails, not quite as awesome as that trail you keep ripping your bumper on :grinpimp:

i have more pictures coming too and a new gun rack setup being fabbed

heres the goodies i recieved from Valley Hybrids in Stockton in addition to his fantastic customer service and land cruiser knowledge

i got 3 tubes of knuckle grease, 1 54mm socket head for the bearing preload, i knuckle seal and rebuild kit and the support mount

heres the basics of my rebuild:

i jacked up the transmissio with a 2x4 and the bottle jack so when i took the support bar off the tranny and t-case wouldnt drop to the ground on my head...

heres the part im about to replace

ipodnewyear020_zps9b3f8e98.jpg

further along i was loosening the bolts and ended up torqueing a lubed nut it broke free of being locked up and i punched my cat converter at full strentgth and ole bessie drew blood... :grinpimp: that sounds funny but ya

ipodnewyear017_zps1a32a63a.jpg

finally i got the support bar off and the old mount and heres the side by side of the new vs old one

ipodnewyear025_zps9f96609b.jpg

i started the install and georg from Valley Hybrids had told me that the bolt holes might not line up and to just drill out the holes a little bit, lo and behold they didnt quite line up so i pulled out the dremel and went to work

ipodnewyear026_zps4eae296c.jpg

i finally got the thing in place and then started on the bar, which conveniently also needed to be drilled out and since i had it half on the car already i just dremeled it on the car

the trnsfer case had to be jacked up a little more to get it to sit at the right height so i pulled out a scissor jack to get the final bolts on and then viola it was put back together

just got back from the hardware store and picked up a couple feet of lumber to make some storage drawers for the rear cargo area

I'm jealous of all that knuckle rebuild goodness. Oh my, after seeing that bloodied up finger, I called the WAAAMBULANCE, are they there yet??
And I thank you very much for that skid plate pic, looks a lot simpler than what thought you had haha. That's a very good thing. I know you've probably told me 1636584754 times, but how thick is that thing?

the knuckle rebuild kit was 80-90 bucks i think, really cheap compared to what ive seen online

its cold where i am and that was smarting for a while, it bled pretty mice after a couple mins haha

its 1/8 inch steel. it has held the weight of the car when i got high centered for such a thin piece of steel.

ok, more news from the homefront. Bessie decided that at 317,000 miles and 30 mins from cell reception to have her starter go out while i was mudding...thankfully the PO decided to put in a second starter just in case. it came in handy and i went on my merry way. I was mudding and crawling at Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area in the Bay Area and did some really fun technical stairs and a section of track called the "Frame Twister" pictures to come of the stairs

additionally i was cleaning the engine compartment and found that I need to rebuild my TBI with new gaskets and electrical connection points. does anyone have any places that they reccomend to sell throttle body rebuild kits for an 87 chevy 3/4 ton P/U 350 v8 engine?

also i have no lockout and need help on what to replace for the lockup solenoid/electrical problem.
