I'll make a trade with my stock springs for your lifted spings you currently have. I don't plan on making my rig a SOA. However I want a taller lift than I currently have I like the photos' nice stock FJ60. They are awesome rigs indeed.
Jason,

the trade

thanks for the OME, shinichi. i hope the soa is going well. unfortunately i am having a beotch of time getting the rear springs on mine (84 fj60). any advice out there is appreciated.

here's what i did:
- attached military wraps to the front (or attached to the frame)
- put back ones on to the new greasable shackle. note: at this point the only way it reached was if the shackle was angled towards the front. looking at your photos it seems like they pointed straight down? hm.
- lowered the axle ( and stretched the s*** out of the brake line, oops)
- bolted on the ubolts and shocks
- seems all fine and good until we lifted the axle back up and the shackle turned up towards the front and pushed up against the frame.
- stared at it for 1/2 hour wondering if the spring is too short. it can't be if it came off the exact rig, right?

Great lift!

The lift looks good . I did the same about 6 months ago. But made the mistake of using the light duty in front. Question for you, Are you getting any popping and cracking noise when you off-raod, from the springs?

Guy

Truck looks good.

Now give your wife a 2 1/2" lift (via some heels) and post a pic.

That wasn't out of line............was it?

Nothing outa line, expected in good fun. Got to post pics of a good rig and a good chick if you got 'em.... I hope to have them both for the long run, I am married to one and am owned by the other.

Nepalm, I got back to your e-mail and it looks like about the same advice being given here. Keep me/us posted on what works.

I never had any real unfamiliar sounds come from the fronts. They were used when I got them though. Maybe that is the sound of them settling in. Did you grease your bushings?

Jamie

Jamie, they were greased when I put them in, but I have power washed them a couple of times after being out in the dunes here in Pismo. Thanks for the reply.

Here are some pictures of my 60 before and after an OME lift w/o SR.
My wife is 5'9" with her shoes on for a size reference on the lift and 33x10.5 bfg's. The stock tires measured just 28" tall under full weight.

Looks good. I should have done SOA from the start. Oh well, I added an ARB bumper ..........then had to save for my wedding last weekend. Kinda slowed the Cruiser build but well worth it. Any trips in mind for Memorial weekend?

Here is mine from 3 years ago. Fresh spring over and 33x10.50's. For some reason your 60 with SOA and 33's looks better than mine with 33's, IMO.

I got married last summer. Still paying for it. Hence no bumpers, lockers, ect. Its worth the trouble though...

We are going to Durango for Memorial weekend. The Iron Horse bike race is a fun weekend long event. We will take the 60 though, hopefully we will get to exlpore some lower elevation trails.

I am around the next couple weekends if you want to go trail hunting around here. I was up around SunLight with my dad last weekend. Most stuff is still blocked by snow at some point though.

That looks awsome. It looks like it is a little taller than mine.. AALs maybe. I wish I had original paint like that too. My paint is bad compared to that...
What is your back spacing. I think the 2.5 bs wheels make all the difference for smaller tires..

The extra height I got from my SO was due to longer shackles and some pretty beefy spring perches. My backspacing is 3.5, so yeah, they "stick in" a little more than yours. Do you plan on staying with the 33's or ya gonna bump it up to 35's?

My wife and I were going to get married up there behind Sunlight but the snowpack was too low for snowmobiles(to get 90 people into Babbish Gulch). We ended up having the ceremony at the Hotel Colorado where our recpetion was already planned for.

There is a trail that heads up just before the FS parking lot. We took our Cruiser up that pretty far. Maybe we should check out "The Crown" in Carbondale, maybe the gates are open. If not we can go to Thompson creek area....no gates.

I am sticking with 33" for awhile. Like everyone I need to save money and prioritize. I was "window" shopping on the 4wheelparts site the other day and saw some 35x 10.5 radial ltbs I think. Those would be cool eventually. Lots of other stuff first though.

I was riding at Prince Creek (base of crown) this afternoon, totally dry. I will give you a call tomorrow afternoon to see what the weekend looks like for you.

Sounds good I'm off at 3:30...

Good thing the LTB's are cheap. I got 6,000 miles out of my first set. Seems to be the average too.
