I just wanted to post some before and after pics of my cruiser after she got all shined up. I just got done today and I love the way it looks now. Before, it was depressing. Anyway, it took a wash, rubbing compound, turtle wax, and about 8 hours of "wax on wax off daniel son", but it was worth it. Let me know what you think.:)

which is before and which is after?

naaaaah, just kiddin bro, I feel your pain, looks great (and much better)

and shows you have LOVE for your cruiser which is very cool, I know that is truly hard work and a labor of love

nice work

Sweet

You can see the improvement! I have used "Cleaning Waxes" a lot in my days. I have a 69 GMC, and it worked MIRACLES on the paint when I bought it. Then I just went over it with a Caranuba (or however the hell you spell it) wax.

Looks real nice, and clean. My 62 has those same awful (in my opinion) side steps. From the looks of your's with out them it looks like I will be taking mine off this weekend.

Thats awesome, should've done that to ours instead of getting a crappy paint job.

Looks good man, did you find the Never Dull wading polish?

Yep, I got the wading polish called Never Dull and it shined the bumpers up great. Like you said the deep rust doesn't come off the rims like magic, but that stuff made a big difference in their appearance. Good suggestion.

Toyota paint is awesome, i can ignore mine and beat it up all i want and it still shines when i wax it.

Good job on shining yours up!

I decided to take those running boards off last year b/c they are Ugly. It didn't take long except for a couple of rusty bolts, but I think the setup looks a ton better without them. I hope this shine last more than a couple of days, but the hard part is done with the initial rub down and wax, maintaining it will be easier, but routine. I just realized that pic doesn't show the new shine off as well as some of the others I took, but it's still better. Thanks for the comments guys! Cruise on.

Great tip for your wheels and bumpers
Get some extra fine steel wool, and go to town on the chrome, no polishes or waxes just wool. They will shine!!!!!!!

Nice job, Where do you live?....looks awefully close to where I live..(Saint Augustine)

Nice job! I need to do that to mine.
Is it better to use "rubbing compound" or "Polishing compound"? Is there a difference?

I live in Panama City Beach, not exactly close, but in the same state. Almost all the coastal areas look real similar though.

I used rubbing compound by Turtle Wax, and then followed it up with the Turtle Wax-in the green canister. I started off washing it real good with a car washing liquid and then started the compound. I don't know if there is a difference b/t rubbing and polishing, or which is better, but I would imagine the rubbing b/c it has enough abrasives to remove the oxidized paint from the surface. I started to use 3 stage meguires but this way was a lot cheaper and it looks great.

nice job for sure, alot of work involved.

do you still have the runnung boards?
someones on the board is looking for a set.

Our cruisers look SO much alike I might just use your clean pictures! Hahah

That right there is the reason i spent 250 on a high speed buffer . I am getting to old for wax on wax off . Esp on about 5 trucks when it comes time to do them, in which i just did 3 of them in the last 3 weeks now.

But it does look alot better.

Looks good, x2 on the steelwool for the chrome
