Hi guys, you may recall I had posted a few days back about my 1HD-FT's idling issues and the knocking that I was hearing from below. Finally got the BEB's on my 1HD-FT engine done a couple of days back...all were more or less ok except No 1 - which was marked quite badly and had 1 part eaten into.
Messed up on the plastigauging though - the FSM says to torque to spec and then turn 90degrees and then measure the plastigauge. I didnt do the extra 90 degrees and the clearance turned out to be a bit off - it was close to 0.003 inches on the three that I measured. FSM says upto 0.0039 is ok as a max...
I am assuming that the extra 90 degrees turn will bring me closer to spec of 0.0014 to 0.0021 - Thoughts anyone ? yes, I did replace with standard bearings...
Also, interestingly the knock hasnt gone away. It seems to be non existent now with a cold engine but returns once the engine heats up. The guy at the garage now suspects the pump and the fact that I havent had it serviced yet - got about 150K on the clock. Thoughts ?
