What's this I hear about Alvaro not being able to find a Christmas tree? He called me on the way home and said he was stopping at Home Depot to get a tree. There must be BILLIONS of trees out there, and you guys couldn't find one? I think that's too much reliance on new fangled technology like GPS and Ham raidos.

Seriously, I was bummed to miss the fun. Maybe next year. One thing is certain, though, I'll come home with a tree on the roof!

Well he had ample opportunity, but he said his back was hurting and he wasn't sure he wanted to wrestle a tree onto and off of the roof rack. Then he fell on the snow and said his back felt better, but not up to tree lifting.

It was a good run and everyone did really well, too bad there wasn't more snow. Although the lack of deep snow allowed us to get to the top of Crystal Peak and take in the veiws.

It was great to meet everyone and put more names to faces. Hope you can make it on the next run.

My wife and I didn't take any pictures, but others did, so hopefully they will post them up.

I asked him more than once if he wanted to cut a tree to take home ;) . Yeah we missed you Andy...I know you would have stoked some coals and cooked up a fine cobbler for the group :).

Forgot my stink'n camera:frown:...but remembered lunch and hot chocolate:D . However Alvaro brought his...

Andy,

You are mean!
I told you that there were plenty of trees. I also told you did not get one because after 120 miles of freeways between where we the trees were and my house, I probably would have been left with a twig. And my back has been bothering me.

Anyway, I had a great time. The area around Frenchman Lake is beautiful. And I could not have asked for a better group of people to go wheeling with. I'd like to do it again some time.

Here are some pics:

There was a lot of snow coming down as we came home last night. From Truckee down to around 6000' on the west side of the Sierra.
I wonder if that guy with his kid in the Suburban with the trailer made it out OK. He stopped me and asked me the way to Crystal Peak. I told him that with his rig it was probably not doable. He pressed on.

Very nice. I have been to the top of Crystal Peak several times on a mountain bike. It's a stout climb up, and a wild ride down to the east shore of the lake. I am amazed at the lack of snow, actually, considering the weather here in the valley where it was raining quite hard.

Of course, I'm teasing about the tree, but I'll bet one of those young guys like Dan or Dan could have loaded the tree for you!:D

Ditto...although a few years back when I was riding all the time and about 15 elbees lighter. One time we rode up from Frenchman's early thirty...crack o'dawn...and traced a fresh set of bear paw prints in the dust to the top...never did see it but it was kinda cool just the same.

Still no precip here in Reno...we sure could use some of your rain! Glad you guys made it back fine (of course!).

All stock? Any mod on these 2?

This one, owned by a pair of brothers (twins?) from Truckee...bone stock. And they walked right up the slippery slopes just the same.

Yeah we're twins. But I own that one. My brother has the subie.

I was very surprised that I made it up there, but I guess the Surburban sorta packed it down. Thanks for the pics Alvaro. Here are a few more. A bit big.

If not Dan or Dan could have helped. Dan got a tree after much searching, and Dan had a little trouble with his 4WD. But Dans' 40 had no problems. Dans' 80 also did well. However Dans' Suburban had to make a couple of tries to get up the last hill. I think Daniel had a good time too.

Did I mention this was the best turn out of Dan's yet for the BBCNN?

I'm really glad to hear everyone had a good time. This may turn into an anual event.

I took a few pictures and some really bad vidieo of Avlero giving the red 40 a tug. I'll try to post some up tonight when I get home.

Some of the pics I took.

This isn't from Saturday, it's from the week befor about 17 miles north of where we were. I just like this cabin and wanted to share.

Our first stop, one of the Dans and Jack found trees to kill near here.

The Red 40 had a little trouble on one of the hills and got a tug from Alvero. After a little looking somebody discovered one hub unlocked.
It was thier first trip with their 40. He didn't know she had locked the hub and unlocked it. They did most of the run in 2WD.
Here is a link to a short (crappy) video of the action.

Looks like a great time, and a great turn out!
I dont see lx 450 ken in any of the photos!?
did he not make it?

Alvaro,
sorry to hear that your back was giving you trouble. That is a bummer.

Wish I could have been there. I was elbow deep in trouble in my garage!

Maybe next year.
Thanks for sharing the pics!
