After seeing the other thread about A/C belt install issues and the questions it raised, figured it was time for a second guide for the A/C belt.

Perfect.

Good for those folks needing something 'visual', but aside from knowing the pulley bolt 'locks' everything in place...the rest should be self evident (tensioner). I always remove the stamped steel cover to allow good access. I suspect on many L/C's it's not even there anymore. But its just 4 bolts (12mm heads IIRC) and just takes a minute to remove and replace.

The other bolts ( lock bolt and tensioner) are 14mm heads.

Step 5: re-tighten lock bolt.
Step 6:

Small tip:
Be sure to remember which way the engine cover goes back in.
You have to slip it between other metal parts.
Easy to forget.

I guess I'm the typical guy this is aimed at. I stared at the graphic on the right for a long time trying to figure out what it was depicting. Belt(s) riding in the pulley(s)? Why 2? Also, @rolliges has a point. Maybe two. Or maybe not, as 'tighten/loosen' may have it covered, if backwards. So only one point.

These come in handy if your changing belts on cars. Also good for changing rear shocks on tundras. Ect.

They are actually gear wrench. Close to $400 off the Matco or Grainger truck.

True, but when you drop your wrench and it lands on that plate thingie you have to remove it anyway to retrieve the wrench. Down side is, with the cover removed, the wrench just hit you on the head..

For those without belt tension gauges, can you supply a decibel level for how much squealing it should make if too loose?
I just continue to tighten until belt chirp/squeal goes away at compressor startup.🤪
