You need the component in the system, or you will burn up your points.


I have used them for years when I did not have the OEM piece on hand. They work fine, and I keep them on hand here.

I gave NAPA the year of my 40, and they pulled out a really nice looking, almost OE looking ballast resistor for me one time. I was very happy with it.

I cannot speak on the specific unit Poser referenced, but I can say that ALL my experiences with aftermarket ballast resistors [back in the day] were bad. I'm sure the values were wrong, but didn't know enough electrically-speaking to know the difference.
