**** UPDATE TO GPX FILE TO CORRESPOND WITH START COORDINATES
*** If anyone will be late - 703-463-1516 is my cell, text me. We will also use club freqs if you bring your HAM.

Just wanted to get this thread started. I will be bringing my kids on this run... so definitely family friendly. It is also a day ride. Hope to find some spot to enjoy a lunch out on the trail. I do not suspect it to take longer than 4-5 hours (based on all my extensive experience of 2 trail rides in my life).

I have attached a GPX file to import into GPS devices (exported from TRXTrailhead.com) and here is a link to the ride via AllTrails (Big Levels to the Blue Ridge OHV Route).

*** TRAIL CONFIRMED OPEN. I called the ranger station today. Our route is confirmed open and operational.

Logistics -
Date: May 2nd
Time: 930 am.
Starting Location: 37.9622, -78.96226

Attendees:
- Boomstick (Mike)
- 1MOA
- NovaPhotoG
- Girl und Panzer

Please respond to this thread if you intend to go. I will update as we get closer. As this is my first organized run... let me know if I am missing anything in terms of planning.

The reports that I am reading say there are some deep water holes (18-24in) and there are some big rocks to traverse... however, stock vehicles with a good guide should be OK or can take an alternate route around the obstacle. The trail is also fairly narrow, so a couple of pinstripes are likely as well.

Are you sure it's open? I would expect it to be gated since the parkway is closed to traffic.

Don't forget to take pictures and share for those of us that won't be able to join.

Hey Mike, I was just thinking about checking out these trails. Great minds think alike! Add me to the list. Can always do yet another Flagpole run if it's closed...:steer:

Good news, the lower gate is open. My daughter wanted some practice with a manual transmission so we had a nice afternoon ride along the coal rd.

I'll have to see how the week goes. I'll likely have to work. New pandemic schedule....

Is this something my 100 with a screaming steering rack/pump , predominantly on road tires and a blown suspension could do?
