Have been to the forum in a while and now two posts in one day!

Living near Bakersfield, CA. Can anyone in the area recommend someone who loves FJ-40's and can work on them? Would like to avoid going all the way to LA for TLC work.

Thanks in advance!

Just a new fresh fish in the world of Land Cruisers. Would like to find a reliable mechanic who could look at my Cruiser and tell me what I should do to 1) preserve it amd 2) begin the process of upgrading it.

I wanted to go to the Cruiser rally at the fairgrounds last month to make contacts but couldn't go.

If you are up for a drive, you come come to Lemoore (about 100 miles from you) for some info. A few of us are in a 30 mile radius and could offer our support or comments. But that would be like going to LA, but I thought I would offer.

Between Slickrock, Hudyhue, myself and a few others in the area, we could do about anything to an FJ 40.

What are you looking at doing? A tune up or a SOA with a V-8 conversion? Shop labor rate in the SJ Valley are generally a lot less than in the LA area or in the Bay area.

If you want a Shop to do some custom work. Call Dave Adams at Extreme Offroad in Fresno. His rig is a purple FJ 40 and it is built.

Your talking about the rally at Truxtin lake?

Good Grief! I must seem like a total geek! Months of work have baked my brain and I lost track of the thread.

Here are some pics of my rig.

Sorry it took so long to reply. Thanks for the info on Dave Adams in Fresno. I'll be in touch with him. The wife wants me to sell the Cruiser. Women sometimes ... Grrrr. But you gotta love 'em.

my dad built up our fj40 10 or so years ago in Bakersfield in our garage. he took it to that monster truck/4x4 shop right down the road to have them look at it just to kind of double check his work (not saying that shop is a fj40 and TLC expert or anything). i dont remember seeing another fj40 when we lived there, though it was at least 8 years ago

btw, what color is that 4-door 45?
