Has anyone purchased and installed one of these?
Any pics to share?
It's one of the lowest cost options on the market ($800) and seems to have the best value.

The 3/4 flat rack with a basket up front seems to be a nice combo.

The Gamiviti is nice too, but I like the spacing of these bars better.

I've been looking at a lot of roof racks lately and just can't justify the $1000+.

I dont think Gamviti is even making racks anymore, website says everything is sold out.

And it looks like the RTT hangs off the back on this one...maybe thats just with the light bar?

I've been "racking" my brain with this, too. I really like the Frontrunner, but the price tag is hefty. However, it's a solid, time-tested product and I LOVE how low it is compared to others. Also like that it's aluminum. I beat around the idea of going with Gamiviti, Baja, and others, but I think I will just splurge for the Frontrunner. I plan on keeping my Cruiser for a long time so in the long run, the cost difference won't amount to much. In the rare case I decide to sell, it will also command top dollar resale vs other brands.

If you do go with Baja, please post up your thoughts.

I think the dude did not have the tent flush up against the front.
Flat area on these is reported to be 48"w x 56.75" L

Check out the new Eezi-awn rack from Equipt, very nice and improves where the Frontrunner had issues.

Very nice product too. I think the price on those is north of $1250:doh:

I have one on my FJ Cruiser and the rear top cross member came dented. The shipping box was in no way compromised even in the slightest so one can only guess it was packaged that way. Additionally, the mounting hardware rusted (with a garaged vehicle!) so I'm wondering if it was even stainless? Someday I'll swap it out.

What made it even worse was I ordered from TRDParts4U and the customer service follow up on the issue was very poor.

Bad experience all around with that purchase.

Overland Journal did a rack test a few months back and found Baja Racks lacked in certain structural areas when compared to the other racks but IIRC gave it their "Budget Award". I've been very comfortable with OJ's rankings in the past.

That said Baja Rack did step up and address several areas that Overland Journal found (such as beefier tubes) during their product test.

Not many companies would do this! Have to give them a lot of credit for doing so.

Do you need a flat rack or will a basket work? I've had my Yakima Mega Warrior basket with extension for almost ten years and it is holding up VERY well. I have the shovel and Hilift brackets and they even have a spare tire mount and light mount available. It also comes with cross bars so you can easily mount a lot of accessories. Very flexible. I think it was under $500.

Bonus: Since it's flat black, you can easily rattle ran any rock chips or rust spots.

Damn, I sound like a Yakima commercial...

I'm sorry for the customer service. I do not recall this particular incident with the rack. When was this? We occasionally have damaged products from all manufacturers and have always tried to work with people to rectify the situation quickly and effectively.

I had the bajarack with the basket on the front, flat at the back. I found the basket to be more of a PITA than useful. I switched to the totally flat rack and it is much more versatile. It is also whisper quiet compared to the other one. OJ's assessment of the BR's strength is spot on and is my biggest disappointment with it. Seems companies always fix things after I buy products from them. The powder coating is also not very good IMO.

It's a get what you pay for situation though so overall I have to say I'm satisfied with the rack.

I had a BajaRack on my FJC - it was great. I had it shipped naked, had a fabricator weld 5 tabs for fork-mounts for bikes... used it countless times with bikes, boats, gear... it was great. I got mine directly from BajaRack and had NO negative experience. I'd buy from them again in a heartbeat.

I contacted you guys a week ago. Barb said this one is only drop shipped from BR directly.

Looking more for a flat rack with RTT options.

The only flat rack for LC's on the BR site is setup for 80's. Did you have to adapt one?

I need to check out this article. Don't remember it in my last year's subscription.

Call BR. They make it for the 100. It's just not on the website.

I met with Tim, from Gamviti, on Monday to discuss building me a rack. they are still cranking them out, he said he was 3 weeks out or so to start next round of racks.

This is good news. Do you know if the pricing has changed? The prices on their site seem too good to be true (esp. with shipping).

@ElHefe I can not comment on price changes, but......... I sent an order inquiry to him using his spreadsheet for the custom racks. There were a few missing items on it which he added to my quote. It's a great ball park budget creator. The price increase from the spreadsheet wasn't a budget breaker by any means. I hope to pull the trigger on the order in the next few weeks. I'm think I'm going with the full rack, sunroof delete, expo++, (4) mounts per side, plus hardware. Trying to see if I can get it powder coated or just rattlecan it myself...not sure on that yet.
