Are you going to try and get it operational by the ride weekend?
I ordered antenna, cable and mount sunday. If it gets here in time then it will be operational. (radio is already installed) I however will not be legal by then.

OK... I would assume it would show up in time but one never knows.

I'm going to try and get some of my other electrical challenges solved...one of which is the nice gauge pkg i have where my old radio was...since I've never bother to get around to connecting the wiring it does not work... maybe when the rain decides to end.

That sucks, with all those FCC agents hanging out in the woods waiting to bust bootleg radio operators.

I'm curious to see what kinda range and performance you get out of those out there.

Im not worried too much about the feds its the HAM geeks that will get ya! I am also very curious about how well these will work in the cove but with almost 5x the power of cb its got to work better even if we cant hit a repeater.

yes....I suspect that even on (simplex / direct radio to radio) at mid power the range would be good....

There is a repeater nearby. Not sure I'd anyone accessed it as of yet

My CB is 5wats, my 2 m is 75 watts and even on low power is is much clearer than the CB. For those that want to set up their new radios , the freq we have used in the past is 144.660

So in the Gazoo I might need a bigger alternator.
I need to add a Ham to the already planned CB, goodtime radio, seat heaters, off road lights, power inverter and a spot for a fridge and the charging of the battery in the trailer. Guess I should start thinking about dual batteries too!

You can drop the off road lights, by dark we're all sitting around the fire drinkin.
