Are they retooling the Princeton plant to produce the Prado?
I'm almost worried to ask what recent events? Earthquake/tsunami combo?

Yea, elaborate Mark. What kind of impact does that have on your plant?
With all of the crappy fake far fetched Hollywood special effects they couldn't make video as nasty as those tsunami videos. That stuff is unbelievable.

yea , the earthquake and tsunami are the events. With all the plants and suppliers in Japan shut down, all of our production Saturdays and daily overtime has been put on hold for now.
Our plant has about a 30 day supply of parts in the pipline between Japan and here so we SHOULD be able to run that long with no shortage of parts. But there is always parts wehave to tap from future containers as they come in to our yard. There is usually about 3 days wirth of overseas parts out in the containers in our yard.
We do get most of our parts from North American suppliers but we get everything from small nuts and bolts to engines and transmissions from Japan. It all depends on how long things are shut down over there as to what will happen here.
I have heard through some of our ordering and logistics people that at least seven suppliers have been destroyed but I don't know how big of suppliers they are or what they made.
We are just kind of waiting to see what happens next. We have a large meeting on Thursday so I may have more of an idea of what is to come then, but we will see.
It all depends on what the big wheels in Japan decide to do, and right now they have more important things on their minds than building cars.

I'm in the same boat as Booty....I work at the Subaru plant (altho I actually build toyota camrys there) in Lafayette and they have also cut out our scheduled saturdays and daily overtime. Basically exactly like Booty said...we are just waiting to see what happens. We also get most of our parts from NA, but some of the Subaru transmissions and the subaru 6-cylinder engines come from Japan, along with a lot of random other stuff.
But I'll be out at the Badlands o nthe 26th, thats for sure.

We were told that the plants in Japan will start shipping some parts out next monday to help keep plants supplied. Also that US customs will be randomly checking any cargo coming from Japan for radiation.
The funny thing is that G M had to shut down some of its north american plants today do to parts shortages from Japan.

But it is still buisiness as usual in other areas, we are still working overtime to prepare to speed up the lines in a few weeks, and they anounced our new bonus packages this week.
