I have slowly been getting a vibration in my 93 FJZ80. The vibration seems to be right under me or behind me. It starts as soon as I accelerate at low speeds around town and highway speeds. The vibration seems to stop when I am not pressing on accelerator pedal. I am trying to rule out what it is. I know I need tires soon and did not think it needed balancing of tires because the vibration would diminish when I let off the accelerator pedal. Could it be transmission problems or U joints or rear? It does not feel like a front end problem as it feels like its coming from either underneath of driverseat or rear of truck. Any help will be appreciated.

Could be many things. Start with the simplest and go from there.

Get your wheels balanced, or swap with someone else.
Jack up the truck and check the wheel bearings for play.
Make sure all the nuts and bolts for your suspension and steering are tight.
Check the condition of all your bushings.
Check for play in your UJs.

Try that and report back
Cheers
Duncan

It was the rear drive shaft for me. I have had both fr and rr rebuilt and balanced.

I crawled under the car and there was no play in the U-joints. How did you know it was the driveshaft? Was there alot of play? I'm starting to think its got tranny issues. When I put it in gear now it makes a metal clunking sound but then it shifts fine.
