Bad sounds coming from 02' LC

Many of you know that I got brutally stuck in some nasty mud on Monday. You can find the thread here. I spent about 20 hours cleaning all of the mud off of my 02 LC. After the cleaning, the truck was driving like new again.

Unfortunately, today I noticed some strange squealing sounds coming from the wheels. There is obviously something rubbing. The following clip was filmed in a parking lot under 10 mph and the sounds come and go both while coasting and applying the brakes. It doesn't sound good and it was very loud.



What should I be checking out?
 
I completely cleaned the outside of the caliper so maybe there is still a little inside? How would a beginner like myself go about fixing this?

I'm guessing I remove the caliper and start by just inspecting yes?
 
there should be several how to change pads. Its easy to pull the caliper 2 14mm bolts is all that holds them on or I think its 14mm. I would just pull the tire and see if you can see mud caked in the back of the pads.

If you pull the caliper make sure to hang it with some kind of wire/tiedown dont just let it hang by the lines. And watch what you use to clean in there you dont want oily type stuff only use brake cleaner type stuff.
 
I can't tell from the video, but maybe look at P-brake internals. Also, could be u-joint(s), if it squeaks with each turn of the driveshaft.
 
If you didn't remove the brake pads and clean behind them I'll almost guarantee you have something wedged in there.
 
agree if you didnt take the pads out to clean there some stuff caked in there
check the rotor any thing scratching the rotor maybe something bed itself in the pads.
 
If the mud you were stuck in had small pebbles or bits of shell these can get stuck between the rotor and backing plate and make noise like that as the rotor turns. I've had it happen with small pebbles and they eventually fell out without causing any damage. The noise was very unnerving, though, to say the least.
If you think this may be the cause you can try to pull the backing plate away from the rotor while tapping on it and the junk may fall out.
 
I think someone in your other thread recommended checking the parking brake thoroughly. You have to pull the rear rotors to do so. Make sure your mechanism is fully releasing...

I definitely want to check this but have no clue where to start. Should I just pull up the FSM?

So just an update - I did find a rock sitting under a brake pad on the passenger side that was pretty substantial in size. I removed it and sprayed brake clean on the calipers & rotor and gave them another wipe down. After removing the rock, I took the car for a spin and the problem seems to be gone. I drove a good 50 miles today too and didn't hear a peep other than the squeak I've had since I got the car (next project).

It is a bit of a chore to remove the back rotors to check on the parking brake stuff. I ended up with broken parts the first time I did it. If you follow the guides you should be fine. If the noise stopped I dont think I would mess with it. I am not sure if you can inspect them without removing the rotors. I know you can adjust them with them still on

Might want to drop it by a free brake inspection place and say you just bought it and would like to know if the pads need replacing. But if they find something I would feel obligated to have them go ahead and fix it.

But if the noise was cured I would bet the rest are fine as long as the ebrake works.
