Vehicle: 1993 Corolla DX. ~170K on it, but it looks and drives like it has 570K. Bought it a year ago for $1500 for my newly-licensed daughter, as a "disposable" car. She has treated it accordingly.
Anyhoo.... a few weeks ago she started complaining that it had a bad vibration in the front end, especially at higher speeds. She is now afraid to drive it on the highway. Took a close look under the front end the other day, felt like one CV shaft was wobbling, so I popped in a new one. $65, easy job.
Problem is still there.
Am I gonna have to find a new tranny for this thing? It really feels to me like the shaft is wobbling where it goes into the transaxle. Do bearings wear out in these things? Drained all the ATF that I could, it looked pretty silvery to me.
