So i did my birf job a few weeks ago, when i removed the abs sensors i was very careful with them and did a good job of cleaning them before i mounted them back in. After about a day i got the usual sensor problems, they would go off at the end of stops, at a very slow 0-10mph speed. I searched and read through most of the threads, i pulled the 80 into the garage and pulled the sensors, again being very careful.

I cleaned them off and put them back in, it didnt help at all. They still go off on a regular basis. I just want to know if they are totally shot and how i can check this, also since im just a poor college kid im not dieing to dish out 300 for new sensor.

Basically, is it ok to run with them acting like this, I recall several saying they were with no issues. I guess its just more of an annoyance.

Thanks, Brandon

You're ok to drive with them like that, I've been going with them behaving like that for a few months now. You can have a dealer pull the code for the ABS system and see what exactly the problem is that's making the system disable.

He can just pull his codes with a paperclip.

I don't think you are hurting anything driving it like this. Mine only did this for a very short time before my ABS light came on and the system was bypassed.

ok thanks, also what seems a little strange to me is that the ABS never comes on, even when they go off coming to a stop. Only time i see the ABS light is at the initial start up.

I have been getting the brake shudder for about 1 year now and have not had any extensive damage. I didn't want to shell out the money for new sensors either. Like yours, my ABS light never comes on except on the initial start-up.

I only had an issue one time when I was coming off the Interstate. I hit the brake on the exit ramp and got a bad vibration & the ABS light did come on. I slowed the truck down, stopped, got out and looked over everything....turned the truck off and turned it back on and the ABS light went off and I haven't had a problem since. That was probably 7 months ago.
