looking at wheels for the 62 and can't figure out what back spacing I want. Any body know what the stock specs are ?

Thanks

Thx Stump , seems like the wheels I'm finding for sale are either 3.65 or 4.something. Not to many people selling 15 inchers any more

Depending on your tires they may rub.

I bought 4" backspacing 15x10 rims when I had my 62 and they contacted the calipers up front. Ended up running 1/4" spacer to make them work. Probably ~3.75" is the max backspacing you can run without a spacer

I've got a stock 60 wheel out at the farm if I wasn't so lazy I could measure it and see what stock is.

Did going back to a smaller tire help your steering issue.

Chris , I have not driven it. Found the busto springs when I was putting the 35s on.

Stock backspacing on the 62 rim is 3.625. M/T Classics are available in 15x8 with 3.625 BS, as well as a handful of Pro Comps and American Eagles. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on some Level 8 Trackers in matte black (alloys) that, by all accounts on Mud, are very good stock replacements in terms of clearance of both the calipers and tie rod ends.

I'll post up here when I get the new Level 8s on. They're priced well; with Discount Tire's current $50 instant rebate, I got a set of four with lugs and stems delivered for right at $400. Can't really beat that for a nice set of alloys! The Mickey Thompson Classic IIIs were around $120 per wheel polished.

@TRFCSUX, got the Level 8s on today. The 15's fit perfect; ample clearance of both the caliper and the tie rod end.

Pics below; I'm running BFG A/T KO2s - 33x12.5x15 - getting them off the stock 6.5 inch rim onto the 8 inch rims improved the looks, ride, and safety.

I think they look great, paint looks fine also. So they are the ones they list with the 3.32 back spacing and the -30 offset ??
Thanks for the help and the pics

Thanks! I'm not sure on the 3.32 backspacing, but it is the -30 offset. Here's the link to the same wheel on Discount Tire:

Custom wheels for your 1988 TOYOTA LANDCRUISER made by Level 8

This is exactly what I got and like I said they fit perfect. With free shipping and the $50 rebate they're running right now, I got four wheels delivered with new lugs and valve stems for $403.

It did push the tires out just a bit from where they were, which is partly due to going from the 6.5" rim to an 8" rim. Plus, I'm running 12.5s. I think the ideal setup with these wheels, if you want to keep them tucked JUST inside the fenders, is to run 10.5s on them. Can't go wrong...
