well as stated above looks like we have all the tools rounded up which is nice. least i hope we do?
As for parts i just PMed CDAN and told him what i was doing he set the list up for me. Are people going to bring jack stands? all i have are 2 small ones which will work but if we wanna get more then one truck going at a time will need more. also maybe a floor jack. not a biggy but all i have is my stock one or the high lift which is scary at times. but like i said if not its not a biggy. show up at 8:00 or any time after that and your welcome to stay as long as it takes and then some if need be. theres lots of good places to eat around here and if you want to bring your own food thats fine as well. theres a grill on the back deck and a frige in the garage so theres room for everything. It woule be nice to get an idea of every ones whos comming but i guess will just see, i count 5 possible or is it 6?

thanks
mike

For a first timer with adult supervision, it's probably a solid couple of hours.

A couple of hours is a good estimate of the time required to clean the parts.

Mike,

I will bring jack stands but I only have the regular bottle jack. I did get the fish scale. Did you pick up a pipe to sererate the birf from the inner axle? Also, did you say you had a seal puller? See ya on Sunday.

Tim

Im in colorado right now and never got around to getting the pipe. in fact i still need to find a away to get the greese, a set of new jack stands, and a case of brake fluid. Ill have to find out what time NAPA opens since i wont get home till late sat night. I do have a brand new seal puller (napa special so will see how good it is) does any one have a brass hammer? and or brass drift to seat trunions? i never got those either. Things have been super busy for me latly and being on a ranch over an hour away from a semi sized town doesnt help. I guess since no one else has spoken up other then Tim we should plan on 9 am? that sould allow me to run and get my stuff that morning. Is that alright with you Tim?

let me know guys
mike

A couple of ghetto tips for your birf project
Go to the local hardware store and buy a piece of 3/8-solid brass rod, cut it, and make a few drifts.
Freeze the races of your trunions bearings and they will almost fall in.

Take lots of pictures and good luck.

Dang, just my luck. I have all the parts but the wife will be out of town so I'll be solo with the 2 and 4 year olds. They're pretty cute, but not good with the wrenches. Anyone in Tucson/Phoenix want to do something similar?

Ross

Ross-

I would be up for doing it on another weekend in Phoenix area, this SUN just won't work for me. 8/13-14 or 8/20-21 would be best for me as the wife and kid are gone those weekends. 8/6-7 could work but the other two are better.

I have the birf DVD and portable DVD player for reference while we're doing the work. Also have 4 jackstands, floor jack, compressor and limited air tools.

Anyone else interested in setting up another work-weekend in the PHX area?

Either of those two weekends work for me. I'll keep both free. There are also enough guys in Phoenix who have done this before that we could add to the speed dial.

I have jackstands and basic tools and a willing body. Is the birf DVD helpful?

We can settle on a date if there is any more interested parties.

for those that are comming tomarrow (which i hope there still are some?) I will park my white fj40 in the drive way so you cant miss the house. The other drive way before you get to it is the one youll want. but if you dont get it then just park there and walk through the court yard to the garage and youll understand. I ended up buying all the stufdf i needed so ill see ya starting at 9:00

Well the Birf party was fun to bad some of you missed it. Tim and John showed up bright and early at 9:00am and we started soon after. we stoped for lunch and to go get more parts and next think we knew it was 7:00 and we were just finishing up one side each. The prob with a birf party is too much talking and looking lol. if some one said anythign we all stoped and looked. I wanna thank Tim and John though for help doing my first birf job it was nice to have the help and reasurence.

P.S. I think i owe either you tim or John some money cuz you guys left your mineral spirits here
