I thought I remember seeing one on the forum at one time but can't seem to find it now. Looking at doing this to mine i just want to check it out before I cut mine up.

Thanks

I was going to do the same thing to mine! My wife put her foot down on it though. There are some photos around. Try google. I was gonna take the tailgate and cargo lid and move it to make like a cab behind the passenger area and make a flatbed cage type thing. It would have solved a lot of the issues I had with wheeling a 60 series (size and weight).
Built a 40 instead which ended up being a bit more difficult.
Did you check out tapage's rig? That was a beautiful job done on that one. IMO you would wanna bob it too a bit. Chop that rear frame back to the hanger, leave a little bit to make a bumper. Then you would also have to figure a space for fuel.

Josh Baker has a 60 that was back halved and now is topless as well. But he just plain cut it off not purdied it all back up.

As for a bob mine has 16 inches missing from the back and is perfect, I run 40's and ith those I have only got the bumper in the dirt once that I know of and I didnt even know it till I saw the pictures. VS my other 60 you can feel that rear on everything.

The first pic in the sequence was what I was thinking of doing with mine.
BITCHIN!:grinpimp:
There are also some pics of tapage's rig in there too for some inspiration.
Its a LOT of work if you wanna make it look decent. There arent a WHOLE LOT of people who have done this type of mod, but it would be VERY COOL! Like I said...if the wife hadnt put the KYBOSH on the whole idea, this was the route I was gonna take instead of building a 40. It would have been perfect for me.
She said.."WE are NOT gonna have some RED NECK piece of s*** sitting out in front of THIS HOUSE!"
She rarely says anything and is usually very supportive of this addiction, but THAT...she would not go for.:meh:

Here's the pic just cuz I like it SOOOOO much!
Donno if its photo shopped or not, but its SOOOOPER clean if it was done. Damn, that thing is COOL!

Thats the one I was looking for, I'm going to ditch the rear springs and do coilovers. I have a 350 with propane with two larger tanks in it now so if I do it I'm going to have to go to the smaller aluminum tanks which would take some more weight off also cause those big steel tanks are heavvvyyyy. I did have a 203/205 doubler which now I sold it and waiting on a atlas now and it will drastically help my rear drive line probably as I'm using a 2wd th400 also.

yea that is Josh Baker's 82 FJ60 that I was talking about.

I'm not quite ready to cut mine up that dramatically but that's the direction mine will go eventually.

I'm 3/4 the way there. :meh:

I didn't have a mini. I had a 62. Also had a vortec waiting to go in it too that wouldn't fit as easy into a mini truck. Do what you can with watcha got till your wife says "NO"!

The master of under statement strikes!

Dennie Mann of South Dakota has been butchering up a 60 for a long time! I don't have any early pics but here is one from a year or so ago. It works very well for a wagon turned buggy!
