My back driver's side window suddenly won't roll up. I sounds like the gears are just not engaging. I can hear the motor working, and the window pops up a few millimeters when I hit the button. Any quick fixes to maybe get it rolled up instead of taking the door panel apart? I'm in bear country, and only a matter of time until some big mama decides to see what might be in my truck. Thanks everyone.

PS. I have a 1993 Landcruiser.

push then tape the window up until the part shows up. You might need a regulator but you can't tell until you take off the door panel (which takes 5 minutes)

Great video. Thanks so much. Sadly, the window is stuck below the rubber on the door, so I can't get a hold of it to raise the window all the way up. Going to try with some pliers.

Dude, don't use pliers - you risk breaking the glass. Removing the door cover isn't that hard and then you can slide the window glass up from the bottom. It's actually pretty easy once you can get ahold of it.

More likely than not you'll have to carefully remove the door panel and look to see where it's stuck/come apart, the regulator or motor is messed up.

TIP: do NOT rush the removal of the door panel, remove any screws, etc then use a plastic trim tool and pop the (hidden) plastic rivets loose one at a time
then (generally) you push or bump UP on the panel from the bottom while holding the panel out a bit, don't just grab it and try to rip the panel straight off because you can break it.

One quick "fix" (just to pull the window glass up to keep water out) is to disconnect the glass from the regulator then use a piece of wood to hold the glass up from inside the door, or run clear tape on the glass from one side up over to the other side. Neither of those are likely to stop a bear however. Better of course to just fix it correctly.

You could build some "unwelcome mats" to deter bears ie: boards covered in long nails sticking up, placed around the vehicle or hanging off the sides Mad Max style?? Or a couple of buckets left near the vehicle with rags/sponges soaked in household Ammonia??

FWIW protecting your 80 Series from Bears:
