I’ve had an airbag light showing in my cluster for a while now, and through various levels of laziness was left unresolved until today.

B1826 (Open in side squib LH) popped up on Techstream and so I dug in.

See pics.

Turns out years of back and forth on the assisted entry rocked a wire loom back and forth until the connection broke.

Stripped and soldered, problem solved and dash light is gone. Glad to know my side impact airbag is functional again.

Added bonus, I found a hairball blocking the amp fans while the seat was out. Hopefully that solves my intermittent loss of audio after a couple hours of driving.

Thanks for the tip. Are these photos in the 2nd row looking forward at the front seats? Which seat did you remove to get to the amp fan?

Lack of context is on me. That’s the driver’s seat. I pushed it all the way forward and upward for access. That picture was taken when I found the broken wire. After that I removed the 4 seat mount bolts and tilted the seat towards the rear for better access underneath. The amp is actually under the carpet, under the driver seat. It can easily have debris block the cooling fans, which are situated with their exposed faces toward the transmission.

Easy recipe for overheating when airflow is restricted.
