Axle tube grooves

On my 1967 FJ I saw these grooves on the axle tube. Are these worn or are they correct?

If you mean the grooves in the brass busing, those are normal grease channels.

Thanks! Does anyone know where to get FJ 40 parts in San Diego, preferable north county? I need a diff cover gasket.

I've never used a gasket. Use gasket in a tube. The black Toyota sealent works the best.

The dealership will always have the gasket, but there are to many aftermarket Cruiserhead shops around your area.

What are some? I saw one online in San Marcos. It looked like it was someone's house.

If you use gaskets.. the third member gasket is fiber and the inspection cover gasket is cork. don't use cheap thin paper ones. Man-a-fre, Specter or your Toyota dealer will have the right ones . I'm sure other vendors here will also.
