Good day gents,

I'm having a difficult time finding a rear axle in good shape for a 98 LX 470. The mounting device that the sway and track bar attaches too corroded. Is there such a part that I can purchase and have the mechanic fabricate back on? Or do I have to get an entire rear axle replacement? : (

I'm hoping I don't have too since I really haven't found one in good condition from the south. The bracket on the rear axle that the sway and track bar mount to corroded. Not sure how to go about this without actually replacing the whole darn axle.

rust free LX axle in ATL. Been sitting for 9 years but it's rust free. I can give you the contact information, he probably wants to much, but far less than a dealer if you have to replace it. I would wire wheel the whole thing and see how bad it really is.

I would love to get the contact!

No kidding! James Cameron would be impressed.

I would think that a competent fabricator could cut the cr@p off and fab up new brackets & parts pretty easily. If the welds/seams are going to be fairly long or extensive, the axles might need to come apart and reassembled after. This definitely gets the ugly dog award.

It's hard to believe, after looking at the deep sea diving picks, but the rest of her is pretty solid underneath in my estimation.

She's back!

After a rigorous search for a used axle I decided to purchase a new housing tube. The only issue I had post installation was the AHC which initially had me spinning but it was simply low on fluid.

That is incredible!! Where did you ever locate a new housing like that? Also, I can't believe you pulled it all off in such a short time. How many band aids did you go through?
Congratulations on a great restoration job. I probably would have started looking for another truck!
