Probably a simple question, are the axel codes for a JDM the same as a US?

AP294?

Also, how rare are third row seats in a JDM.

Is it at all practical to put them in? ie are all the brackets there just need the actual seats? (wife wants a 7 passenger & I want a Desiel)

Thanks

Axle Codes

Yes the JDM trucks have the 294 transaxle code for factory lockers.

All JDM gassers have the 3rd row seats. Never seen a Diesel with a 3rd row seat.
Axle codes are the same.

There is at least one JDM 80 that had the K294 axle code but it was not equipped with the diff locks. I believe it was the one with the canoe and the owner rolled it over. There were pics somewhere of the white door sticker and it definitely had the K294 axle code.

A white door sticker such as attached below would indicate that it was not a JDM model as the JDM's have the Axle/Transmission/Trim information on a stamped firewall plate:

Thanks.

Looked at one on Friday... 295, and no switch.

Are you confirming that the truck you looked at had axle code K294 and no F&R diff lock option; electric or cable?

It looks like it had code K295, hence no lockers.

I can read Jason. US Spec 80s came with K292 or K294 axle codes. Nobody has mentioned K295 in this thread or any other thread here on 'Mud. That doesn't mean that there isn't an axle code of K295 but it seems more likely that Tommy meant K294.

Tommy has been looking at both USDM and JDM trucks with K295 being a very common JDM axle code for 80 series with limited slip differentials, in fact it is likely the MOST common JDM 80 series axle code I have seen. Only Tommy can tell us exactly what he meant but given the commonality of K295 with JDM 80's it is not a great leap of critical thinking to arrive at a conclusion...

Also K295 has been mentioned in direct response to a question posed in another thread where he was asking about axle codes:

Do those axel codes work for JDM vehicles imported to canada?

I've found one I want to look at this week.
Lockers:D:

K295 are LSD for all 80 here in Panamá .. also K294 with e-lockers

Yes 295 is what I saw and it was a 1991 JDM.

I didn't realize that was a limited slip.

Does that mean the US 292 is a limited slip?

So in panama you can get a desiel with a 3rd row seat and left hand drive?

I've been looking at a JDM for the desiel and minimal rust but I heard there were only gassers with the third row seat.

next search "importing from central america"

Sure yes .. and turbo diesel ( that actually are not the same as diesel :D )

Mine it's part time .. but are full time also ..

Part time and full time? In North America it is only Full Time correct?

What is the currency like compared to the American Dollar?

I'll have to look into this further.

Thanks for the links, I looked at the vehicles for sale and they all look great. I take it there isn't much rust there?

Are there many members importing Land Cruisers from Panama to North America? I saw one recently for sale which was imported but I was wondering how common this is.

Thanks for the info and help. I will have to do some more research on Full Time vs Part time. I'm sure the newbie section will have a great explaination for me.

All USA 80 I thought are full time .. here pre pre 96 part time, 96 - on full time first HF2A and HF2AV ( aka visco coupling ).

If you look closer all are in US dolar .. our normal currency here.
