I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a new ARB awning. I am on the fence on getting the 2000 or 2500. It seems the 2000 fits the roof line of the 100 nicely and the 2500 will overhang several inches on both sides. I planned on getting the 2000, but have been told it will leave me wanting more. I am concerned about the overhang of the 2500 causing wind noise and getting caught on tree branches and other stuff.

Would like to get some opinions of people that have one or the other, and general likes/dislikes/wish I would have done something different feedback.

FWIW, this will go on my 2003 LC with Frontrunner Slimline II rack using RRAC029 mounts.

Thanks in advance.

I have the front runner 2.5m and am very happy with it. It does hang off a bit but it's a good size in my opinion. Included are some pictures though the angles don't really show it too well. In the first one you can see how far forward it sticks out. The rear goes as far as the whale tail.

Thanks all. The 2500 doesn't look like it overhangs too far. Any wind noise specific to the longer awning or these types of awnings in general? How much do these stick up above the top of the rack? I still need to fit in my garage and I only have about 2-3" of clearance as it is.

Since height is a concern, you might consider looking into the new James Baroud awnings. No external cover needed. 3-3/8" closed height.

I don't think any of them out there stick much above the rack they are mounted too. That looks nice hoser, of course you can't go that far down the roofline with a 100 series because we don't have the gutters and there is less of a distance between the top of the doors and the top of the roof.

I figure it would sit about flush with the top of most platform racks. My rack with the mount measures 3.25-3.5" depending on the adjustment.

Based on the drawing of the RRAC029, it looks like the awning would sit about 2" above the top of the rack.

No wind noise on mine at least I can't hear anymore than the roof rack produces. As for height it's only about an inch or inch and a half.

Thanks for the input everyone. I went ahead and ordered the 2500 and a windbreak. Hopefully with the square profile I can install the windbreak on the front or the side. Will post up some pics when I get it installed.

Forgot about this thread.

As you can see in the pics, it doesn't stick up much above the rack and fits in the garage.
