Friend filmed this at Tellico...the Rubicon was 2 days old (still had temps on it) and almost fell off of Trail 5. This is almost to where trail 4 and 5 meet, very close to the ford.

The cliff on the left was about 200+ feet down with LOTS of trees in the way. This person drove off with no damage.

notes to self: recovering a new Rubicon SUCKS...the front tow points are terrible.

Enjoy:

That little rock was wedged into his steering box such that we kept getting thrown toward the cliff when the big winches pulled. The quad helped us out since the rock was wedged.

Dang, I can't view the vid, but how in the __ did he almost drive off of Trail 5? Unless it was covered in ice-then I could understand.

There was a spot on the trail (now called Rubicon rock by my friends and I) where you can go over a small drop off (2 foot) or around to the left near the edge.

The Rubi took the left line, got hung up, hit it too hard and the boulder the rear diff was on slid down the hill. He got pretty precarious (so much so that I put the strap on the doors to keep it from going over).

Man, I've run that trail numerous times-a good bit of it in 2wd.

This guy was "experienced" but showed signs to question that...he was pretty fearless about the situation, but he was driving very aggressively, even when he was about tits up in the mountains!

Dankunz, if you got any pics of the rescue in progress, send them to cruiserland.com for a free cruiser t-shirt...
