Well one more project is done. I got done on Sunday, had to head down to the In-laws for dinner. Monday I left for Las Vegas and I just got back today. I went and did my final fill-up and everything is working great.

So I now have 49 gallons of fuel on board the 80. I am hoping for a realistic 400+ mile range now. I'm just glad that gas prices have come down.:crybaby:

Darcie and I are heading down to the Panamint Valley/Range, just outside DV tomorrow for the long weekend. I will let you know how it works in the real world.

Sorry, but I don't have any pictures right now, I will try and get some later.

yeah! Nice job Jack:clap:

I wish I could come up with something similiar.:hmm:

Nice Jack! What a relief to have that project done eh?!

Have a great time!!!

49 gallons!!! That is sweet. It is nice to have projects completed, but I thought you guys told me from the beginning that cruisers are never complete??:D I just got a 350/sm420, so after the first of the year, I will have a big project to complete!

Where is the stock tank on a Disco? I don't suppose there is any room for an additional tank under the chassis is there?

I am very happy. Thanks, I think we will. We are going to hike Surprise Canyon and probably head up Golar Wash. We are looking forward to the adventure.

Good job Jack. The DV washboards are perfect for Aux tank testing. Clownmidget lost his rivnuts on those roads and his aux tank fell out..almost!

When I had the RR, it was tough coming up with an aux tank solution that didn't equal to the GNP of a third world country so Matt has his work cut out for him.

Oh believe me, the truck as a whole is far from done. I merely have one more check mark on the list.

No rivnuts for me. The front of the tank bolts to a bracket that uses the factory crossmember that sits above and just behind the rear axle. The rear of the tank bolts to a crossmember that bolts to the original spare tire crossmember bolt holes. So the frame will have to fail before this tank will fall out.:grinpimp:

Happy Thanksgiving everyone, talk to you in a couple of days.

Be sure to get some pictures of the waterfalls in Surprise Canyon.

Glad to hear you got this buttoned up. Did you have any surprises after I left?

it sits behind the rear axle between the frame rails. I'll have to do some research and see if anyone has come up with a larger tank idea.

I know, I am a loser, I will try and get some taken today and posted.

Look for my new post/trip report.

Other than the hoses that continued to kick my a$$, everything went pretty well. I did have to pound the inside area around the dual filler neck to allow the lever full travel.

That sucks, sounds like a larger tank might be your only option.

Well the tank worked great, the pump they supplied is sloooow. I switched it and wasn't sure it was doing anything, because the aux gauge wasn't changing and neither was the factory guage. Apparently, traveling at 65mph up and down the mountains between here and Bishop isn't the best time to switch, because I seemed to be using almost as much as I was transferring.

Eventually, the aux pump began to win. The sender is a little off on the aux tank though, so while it is showing empty, there is still fuel in the tank, I just have to figure out how much. The best thing though is that I am at 1/2 tank (main) and almost 500 miles on the trip odometer. That is with about 40ish miles offroad. I am very happy.

I'll get some pictures.

Two more months and it's time to put it up for sale..... You're now ahead of where the Lexus was, it's time to trade it off and start over again...

Now that you mention it...:grinpimp:

I kid, I kid. If someone were to offer me the right amount of money, I would certainly sell, but I doubt very seriously that is going to happen. So unless I fall into a pile of money, it's not going anywhere.

I am trying very hard to cure my vehicle addiction.:D

Admitting you have a problem is the first step.

Just a random thought. Could it be that the venting isn't adequate and the pump has to push harder than it's supposed to.

The gas cap and smog cannister have vents that will allow the tank to suck air in, but won't let it go back for smog reasons. Maybe the vents between the two tanks need to be connected to equalize the air pressure?

Or maybe they just sold you a slow pump?
