I'm in the middle of installing my auxiliary battery and wondering about grounding. I'm running 1/0 cable from the negative on the aux to the negative on the main, and another from the aux to the fender the way it is on the main. Do I also need to run another ground from the aux to the block somewhere?

It seems like running a ground from aux to block would be pointless. The block is grounded in multiple places already, I would say just ground the aux to the fender and be done with it. Usually when I end up trying to add things like that I mess up something else in the process. Very slippery slope....

The large ground off the battery lands on the block only. If you were to loose the ground to the block the small gauge fender ground is all have, resulting in a overheated wire and a possible fire. This is another good reason behind a large ground to the frame from each battery.

I ended up running a 1/0 cable from the aux to the lift hook under the engine cover. There was already a threaded hole there and it was easy to get to. I assume that would be a good ground...
